Well, on my PC I don't use an anti-virus... I don't need it...
The average of PCs I repair from viruses in a weak is 7!
I face many forms of viruses, and work on computers with various types of anti-viruses... some people install 2 anti-viruses thinking that their PC will be more secure! This is not good at all and advice you not to do it! It creates conflicts, kill the PC performance and let appear sometimes the BSOD...
I suggest the KAV (Kaspersky Anti-virus), the version 7.0 and higher will do the job. It is not perfect but better than the other known anti-viruses. No need for KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security), it creates a heavy load on the PC!

i disagree with that, specially if you are on an unsecured LAN. KIS has so many features, one of their BEST is the anti-banner which removes all ads from a webpage.
about the second part, the heavy load, well on an average PC these days (core 2 duo with 2gb of ram), this is not a problem.

once i installed 2 antiviruses with each other , the computer took 30 minutes to restart , then i had to shut it down , it took like 1 hour , then i had to format it , i had no chance in removing them .

^^ yes, as long as you are using AVG antivirus and not internet security.

Even if your on unsecured LAN, KAV will do the job perfectly!
This thread is entitled "Discuss Best Anti-viruses" and not "Discuss Best Anti-Banners"! Why the hell you want to remove banners? how can banners shutdown your PC?
Are you running a server or something on your laptop or PC ?!
Why would you want these extra features?
Concerning the heavy load, I don't have a core 2 duo and 2gb of ram, neither he and she! Even if you have these features, why do you want to consume your PC power to the limit?! The more free power your PC have, the more it will be powerful!
Suppose you're using heavy applications and games on the PC, then it would be better to preserve as much as you can from computer power for them in order to have a better work!

you did not convince me how KAV blocks LAN attacks or why you don't want to remove banners. and frankly, disabling or enabling KIS on my system doesn't make any change. KIS works flawlessly and it's firewall warns me of many potential risks.
