So finally General Michel Aoun became president and it has been around a year and a half. Has it been as good as you hoped or are you slightly disappointed?
I'm disappointed personally, nothing has changed or looks as if it will change, we still don't have electricity, our government is still bleeding money, the head of the Lebanese railroad still gets a salary even though we don't have a train(and in fact, he got a raise last year ma3 selselet el retab ![]() Anyway let me see your thoughts (whenever you notice this ![]()

i had high hopes on the FPM years ago, but now they seem like they turned corrupt just like other parties in Lebanon. sad.
and what's with the rise of the right wing in FPM? it used to have this feel of a centralist position (not to say a leftist)

Here's my opinion about what happened. FPM was big a scam that used the struggle and passion of thousands of people to get few individuals into power. Here's why:
1) The secular speech was replaced by the sectarian speech to get more votes and support in specific areas. "إذا تكلمت طائفيا فانبذوني". 2) The fight against corruption never started because they became part of the game and had a share of the cake. 3) Like everywhere else, they turned a political party into a family business, his sons-in-law are in power. They also got people inside the party for their financial power and investments. 4) G. Aoun failed in creating a political part with structure and democracy. Gebran Bassil was appointed and not elected. Some people accused me of changing my political views, while in fact, it's the political party that I supported that change. I am still holding to the same principles of secularism, freedom, independence, fighting corruption, and building a civil state.

The Gebran Bassil being appointed part really struck the final blow for me. enno walaw? all that talk about el wirateh el siyesiyeh and you shamelessly did that? At least in other parties, the people inheriting have some popularity in the party, Gebran Bassil is not liked by anyone... He couldn't pull his own weight in the last election in his district and get votes, and yet Aoun froze the government back then to get him a ministry too... It was too far.
And by allying or trying to ally with all the parties, whose corruption will you fight? they are all your friends now, and these political parties would not get elected by anyone if they don't allow corruption to continue.
