Hello there,
I was cleaning my PC CPU by removing the dust from the part covering it. It's not the first time i do this, I've already done this with my main computer at the same night and everything went okay. The thing happened when i plugged back everything and turned it on, only the CPU fan was on but couldn't open the DVD-ROM drive and the monitor which is plugged to the case wasn't turning on. So i assumed it was the power supply so i replaced it with an old power supply i had with the same voltage and that fixed serveral things like DVD-ROM and monitor... Changing the power supply didn't seem to help much, turning on the PC wasn't beeping or posting or any of that. So i removed everything connected to the board such as DVD-ROM, HDD, RAMs, VGA... and tried again, nothing happened. I'm confused: - Is it the power supply that fried the Mobo and maybe the CPU as well. - Was the CPU damaged in the cleaning process knowing that i didn't have any direct contact with it. How to tell?

Look if some dust or paste in left in the CPUI slot or make sure that CPU pins are ok or if the pins in the CPU slot "mannoun mat3oujine"

when troubleshooting hardware, u do need to proceed using trial and error method.
my guess would be the mobo. but still, ALL PSUs have the same voltages, what about the amperes?? are they close? or is there a big gap between the old PSU and then new one?

I had the heatsink removed when i heard the beep, I've been doing some tests without it since i was almost sure that the machine was dead.
However, i placed it back, added a RAM connected the monitor and booted, IT WORKED! A minute later it turned off by itself, i turned on again and went into the Bios for a fast review of the hardware monitoring, the CPU temperature was 117 degree and CPU fan at 3000 RPM which is the reason why it was shutting down by itself and of course because i was testing without the heatsink (Lucky me it didn't burn out). So now i m leaving it to cool down then monitor the CPU temperature evaluation to make sure it won't raise again. I've never thought that hardwar-ing could be as fun :P

The Sata Drive is not booting now, it's not even starting, dunno if it was hit or i need to configure it in a way or another. I resetted the heatsink and the temperature got low to ~60 degree which i believe is normal in such hot weather. I have to admit, i got lot of spare parts here lol, i had an 80 GB IDE old HDD i plugged it and tested, everything worked just fine. I had to do some "a la libanaise" techniques and they proved success ![]() This problem has taken over my day but i really enjoyed messing with the hardware, every time i was able to make some progress made me feel really happy LOL. To be continued...
