I don't understand why would anyone expect another "Fade To Black" ... I mean It was a ballad in a whole thrash album. You should expect another album like "Ride The Lightning" for example.

But Fade to Black was that one ballad, they can never make again anyway.
Eh, Metallica can't go back to the Ride The Lightning era, so at most they would put another Modern Rock album like The Black Album, but no Thrash metal like in their first years for sure.

Actually i was waiting for the release of the new album hopping that they will RETURN TO THE ROOTS and give the trashy heavy metal music that they used on RIDE THE LIGHTNING and KILL'EM ALL...
i guess they tried to do smth similar to fade to black in this song but what i heard is smth similar to Creed or even to Nickleback or whatever their name is;
the rythim is poor the solo is weak and the beat is :@ and concerning the lyrics and the vocal part well i think James became SISI after quitting alcohol and drugs.
the problem is that rockers have no mercy :D specially whn its related to the Masters of Rock, i myself was raised on Metallica songs they were gods an idols but now i wont even spend 10$ to buy the new album i'll just wait and download it lool

Thrash Metal ( Kill em All --> And Justice For All ... although Master of Puppets was a mix of heavy metal and thrash, but still quite there)

Heavy Rock ( Black Album)

Commercial Modern Rock ( Load --> St.Anger)

Exactly, this is a damn ballad ( and after all who gives that much importance to a ballad) but anyway it is still not that good even taking it in that standard.
First of all, they have the shittiest drummer. Yes Lars might be good but as a rock drummer not as a metal drummer, Lars was always the weakest spot for Metallica and even when they were still playing metal ( thrash era), he was always making them sound shit. What is really nice hear is the lead guitar, the section before the solo sounds really cool and interesting, and the rhythm guitar is actually strong enough , I thought I was just going to hear some kind of very weak riffing to an extent that you can not actually hear the riffs properly, but it was high enough. Straight from the intro , you will understand this is a ballad, so Metallica are trying to play smart, released the ballad of the album as a single first ... OR ... maybe all the album is simply ballads loool, which makes it somewhat similar to the Black Album. Anyway the intro rips off the older metallica ballads and plays with them a little, but I must say it's ok. Hetfield sounds like he did in the Unforgiven, nothing special. The good sections are the fast riffing after the 5th minute, overlayed by some wothwhile lead guitar by Kirk.
So In short, shitty drumming like always, poor production ( they need to fix it on the album), but after the 5th minute, the song becomes cool, and I must say it's nice to see Kirk in shape again, because if it wasn't for him, this song would be bad.

It's just that this song is a mix of many earlier ballads that Metallica did , but because it is a ballad, then I can forgive them, but if all the album sounds like this, then for sure, Metallica need to stop because it would be like they're tributing themselves.

This is one of the worst posts I've seen.
an No NOT because I don't like Trance, I won't say it sucks, because there are trance fans who actually know how to speak about their music, BUT this sentence just explains everything when I say how people only look at accessible music rather than good music. So now, people go with the trend-hopping ?

Of course ill buy it! Mp3 are great but if you like an album BUY IT! There's the full artwork and CD it's ORIGINAL and it looks good with the other Original collection of Metallica albums.

N.B: THE ALBUM IS AMAZING! F@Kin ROCKS \m/ new Metallica fans may not like it though...

They album should be called Disaster magnetic it suck sucks sucks.. i cant beleive i wasted my time hearing bullshit.... unforgiven 3 is a disgrace on the unforgiven series 1 is still the best, another fact these guys cant write good songs if they arent m7achechchine 3al 2eikher.. i think this album is a zarta i noticed alot of mess in their music ( dajjeh) this issn;t good rock anymore some songs start good but byekhebsouwa deghreh, its like watching an eclipse wel khetyeriyyeh byejo yde22o 3al tnajer!!
