guys with MS vista, i've been using vista for almost 2 years, without any anti-virus and without any scan since i bought my laptop and I've never faced any kind of virus

not using an antivirus is very bad, i bet you have some trojans General, as for me, i'm using an AV, i never got infected, and i didn't face "vista" troubles, just because i know how to use it.
also vista has some great features over XP ;)

Vista is like a "heavy wow"... it has nice security features but it puts lots of load on the PC...
I don't use any security software on Vista and it is working superfine...
The XP security is shit, aslan mafi security lol, why am I talking about security >_>
Vista, Xp, and Linux both are vulnerable following some proportions but the user must be wise enough in order to prevent his PC from various infections...

20 reasons why vista sux

1) Hardware doesn’t run well on Vista (even new hardware)

2) The new security of Vista is overkill most of the time, being prompted for every little thing is bad enough but Vista even labels existing applications as suspicious.

3) Lack of drivers for older and newer hardware.

4) Power options do not change automatically for laptops depending on whether you are plugged or unplugged from a power source.

5) The Start Menu has been redone with a completely different look, unfortunately it is hard to navigate and find what you are looking for.

6) Rebooting a Vista machine is supposed to be faster, but it actually takes longer to reboot than XP.

7) The much talked about Aero UI is great to look at, but with all the resources it takes just to run it all you will be able to do is look at it and not actually work on your pc.

8 ) The many different versions of Vista will be confusing to some basic computer users who are not sure of what exactly they need so in the end they will probably figure more expensive means better and pay for a version they don’t need in the first place.

As for Vista, it has extremely good security features...the downside? too many questions asked to the user all the time and slow performance...

roflcopter, it works very fine, and it is rendered by the graphic cards, and it works very well on my built in intel card.

i'm not defending vista and i'm not saying it is perfect, and it used to cause me troubles on shutdown but i cannot just blame microsoft and not the others.
I'm just defending the common sense, for the sake of a better humanity, because with bastards like the one who wrote the 20 reasons, (i was sure it wasn't systamatics) we cannot build a better world.

going back to the technical part, i have ubuntu on my laptop too. it is fast and cool, but it causes troubles too; suddenly, the hard disk starts to spin very fast, getting all its performing resources consumed for what appears to be "nothing" and it slows down the pc, and jams it, and the 2 way to get out of this are to go to the second desktop, or turn off the laptop from the power button, this is why i'm not using it.

concerning the ubuntu i faced this problem using the version 7.10, but till now i didnt face it with 8.04., so which version r u using and which laptop brand??
