Miscellanious Problems!:P

Hello...

my computer is suffering from different problems that i wasnt able to solve
so any one can afford help am thankful

I'll post them One by One!

Here's the first one:
In Music Files, I cant edit any of the properties or even I cant see them, for example if i want to add an author to a title in the properties, I simply cant!

whats the problem!):

Neoxter 06-23-2009 07:05 PM

The #1 solution for your problems to do is to go here: www.google.com

for ur issue, it depends on the extension of the music file.. and if its a copyrighted music file or no.

7alewi 06-23-2009 07:17 PM

Right Click > Properties > General Tab > At the bottom you will see "Read Only" untick it > Click Ok.

Try again and should work :)

MARX ® 06-23-2009 08:20 PM

Guyz its the same problem with ALLLLLL my music files!!!
and if i want to edit them from the down tab, they tell me inno action cannot be performed!

Inou as they always say.. Format :p

Los Blancos 06-23-2009 10:19 PM

Check if any partition in the drive you have your music on is damaged.

You can do that by downloading Tune Up Utilities, this helped me in a similar case you have.

Code:

http://rapidshare.com/files/227587584/TuneUp.Utilities.2009.v8.0.3100.31.English.Full.rar
OR
Code:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EKPONAID
The section in TuneUp Utilities which you need to work on is called Disk Doctor, something like that.

For any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

LoL, one thing I hate about the Lebanese Mentality is whenever we face a small problem concerning computers, we always say "Format" :D.

I have my computer since 5 years, and still working on it, never formatted it once :p.

Well, you can get CD DVD's and put each 4.7 GB on a disk.

Anyway, did you see my post ? :p

its a send/dont send error .

P337 06-24-2009 11:07 AM

What windows platform? What extensions? Other than that, you mentioned different problems, list them.

If you need necessarily to change a song metadata, crack it, I think that will do the job; There are many utilities for this. By all means, try google, or chkdsk. I'm not quite sure if the second option would totaly solve your problem.

I see your critical reading, observer. I'm not into the format thing, seriously, I'm not. But, let me hear you, what do you suggest?

If you don't use virtual machines, then, you do not use a computer, properly.

Well, why go directly to format ? Many suggestions could help.

He might have a damaged partition in one of his disk drives.

He might have a driver not working properly.

He might have a virus blocking privileges of his.

He might need a critical update from Microsoft.

And the list goes on, try searching on Google for the same problem, you'll find many threads for such problems which have been solved.

As for the second part, what does that have to do with our subject ? ):

What.. the.. hell?
Anyway, I hoped that you reply more in general, as main idea showing your point of view about the subject, although it depends on the problem. I suggest that you lurk around a bit.

You was nagging about the Lebanese mentality: They format whenever they face a problem, right? You mean they do not precise the problem.
Or, when you are saying the list goes on, you're doing the same thing, in an another way. Lack of functional specification, generalization, and less specific criteria. Contradiction, no?

As far as I'm concerned, it surely has to do with our subject, you mentioned the 5-years-without-formatting, didn't you? Specifications, please.

It depends on what he's doing on the PC for that whole 5 years. And how he's managing to deal with events.
I can run a PC for 100 years without doing anything on it, and it will be fine.

The 32-bit limitation is 4Gb and not 3Gb.
(2^32) / (1024^3) = 4 .

Also, read here.
Also, give this a try. Run cmd as administrator and write this command:
BCDEdit /set PAE forceenable
This command will enable Physical Address Extension. (It might not work, it depends on your system).
Also read here.

Huh ? Did you even understand what you just said ? Or did you say it for the sake of arguing ? Btw, I'm Lebanese, in case you don't know.

Yup, 5 years without formatting, every single problem I encounter I use my Google friend :).

Dude, stop arguing for the sake of it, and try to be helpfull, suggest solutions to the problems these two members are facing :).

SysTaMatIcS 06-24-2009 04:40 PM

question is , will my system use 4 gigs of ram and read them as 3 (as its doing) or it will use only 3 gigs? and is it harmfull to leave it this way?

SysTaMatIcS 06-25-2009 01:43 AM

wth is he talkin abt

Your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

I changed my mind, am satisfied with this error, in fact did i mention how much i like errors?!

man talk something smone like me might understand:p:p

Google 06-25-2009 02:21 AM

@systa,
Check if your RAMs and the VGA are well plugged into the motherboard.

@Marx,
The problem you're getting is from an exception happening at an address belonging to a certain dll. You have to see what is it that dll and then try to register it or fix it if it is corrupted.

-could it be cz my xp is 32 bit and its only reading 3 gbs of ram instead of my 4 gbs?
-another question is , will my system use 4 gigs of ram and read them as 3 (as its doing) or it will use only 3 gigs? and is it harmfull to leave it this way?

Yeah, the operating system is the one limiting your PC's capabilities.
There are some ways to extend this limit. I don't know if you tried the command I wrote before.
And no, it is not harmful.
The anti-virus thingy is not a dangerous thing. If you want to stop it, just check your anti-virus configuration. Any program can produce a beep. It's not that big deal.
But anyway, what's bothering you? Don't tell me that your anti-virus is catching a virus each 3 seconds! :p

No but reminds of some black mute days when i spent like a month on my pc without a sound and all i heard all the time where the beeps :p
am afraid of the command that it might hurt the system?
