http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf-ME...eature=related

it was a commercial prepared by Johnson’s (Republican) campaign team during the presidential election campaign (1965). It was entitled "Peace little girl” but it is better remembered as “Daisy”. The commercial’s goal was to convince the electorate that Johnson’s opponent, the democrat Barry Goldwater, is a dangerous radical in
favour of atomic weapons.
the film was shown once only, on September 7, 1965, on CBS

Johnson is the democrat while Goldwater is republican

arctic= above
antarctic= below ?????

Ingrid 08-23-2009 11:10 AM

Nope not really :p

Kain 08-23-2009 11:21 AM

the word arctic is related to the big bear constallation that indicates geographical north.

Antarctic ---> opposite of north.

Ingrid 08-23-2009 11:41 AM

Well, in the book they said that Polar bears (and not the constellation) gave the Arctic its name. Arktos is Greek for bear. Antarctica has no polar bears, so they call it Anti-Arktos.
You were right that it had something related to bears :)

I just learned that I should learn to use google more often:p

Arctic A region surrounding the North Pole which takes its name from the Greek arktikos ‘northern’, which itself comes from arktos ‘bear’. In Greek mythology Zeus placed the nymph Callisto in the northern hemisphere in the shape of a bear and thus this particular star constellation was named by the Greeks Ursa Major ‘Great Bear’. Close by is Ursa Minor ‘Little Bear’, which includes Polaris, the pole star, which marks the approximate position of the north celestial pole.

Thanks for the correction:p
