Celebrating Christmas!
Now that Christmas is getting closer, we face this dilemma!
People tend to replace Christmas by X-mas, which I find completely ridiculous. I mean isn't it obvious that someone is trying hard to steel the main reason for this blessed holidays... Christ was born on Christmas to save humanity, he came in peace, he came in love.... So you better watch it, it won't take you much time to write it the way it is supposed to be.... CHRISTMAS...... |

I totally agree with you, When you write X-mas you are replacing the name of Jesus CHRIST with the symbol of the unknown which is X.
And i would like to talk about another issue which is Santa Claus. With all due respect to Saint Nicholas this holiday is about Jesus, who was born to save us. So instead of thinking about presents we should always keep in mind the true essence of this holiday. |
Actually this thing was said by Ghassan Rahbani 2 years ago on manar tv (maybe :) )
its zionists who are trying to make us forget the true meanings of religious occasions! |
actualy Christ was born sometimes during the summer
but 25 december was some kind of heathen holiday that christians turned to their holiday also Christ was not born the year 0, that is an approximation, historians say that it was around year 2 to 7 ... anyway I will respectfuly disagree with those who say that Christmas should only be about Christ our savior etc... becaue personnaly I think and I feel, Christmas is the one time of year where people feel happy and cheerful, and families unite on dinners and everyone likes to wear the red Santa hat. so leave santa alone :'( I love santa to me christmas is about being happy, taking a holiday, gathering with friends and family getting drunk and fall off the chair laughing, theology is one part, but don't neglect the importance of santa and happiness, everything must have its fair share in life |
I'm not a Christian but I don't see why some people want to change the name of Christmas. This is just politics getting in the way of the everyday normal life. It's now illegal to say "Merry Christmas" at airports in certain countries, instead they have to say "Happy Holidays" so that other people don't get offended.
If you get offended this easily then you should go to a doctor to check if you've got something stuck in your you-know-what :D People are happy at Christmas and so am I, so anyone who wants to call it something else can just go bang their head against a wall until it starts sounding like something other like Christmas. |

don't blame the atheists :( that brings bad luck :dev2:. lool I work in Multimedia and Electronics business sales. And to be honest, i have seen more than THOUSANDS of People this month and NONE of them mentioned even the real Christmas spirit, its all about I WANT A PRESENT. if there was no presents, i bet they all hate Christmas day. |
I think "Santa Claus" and the "Christmas" tree must be stopped, they're making people forget the true meaning of Christmas.
:D |
I respectfully disagree.
Changing the name doesn't change anything. It's like changing the name of Retards into Mentally Challenged, or to People with Learning Disabilities. The Name doesn't mean anything, it's the same thing after all. And, if it's written X-mas, you still pronounce it Christmas, don't you? Anyways, I don't write it X-mas, cause I don't like abbreviations, not because I think that it dooms Christianity  |
i dont think that anyone is doing this on purpose , probably people who dont know wats the meaning of it , so they abbreviate it to xmas , not zionists trying to end the world by doing this :p
|
it's a propaganda, and unfortunately many pple are blind to this!!!! plus u have the medias and especially televisions (like progs dedicated to kids) playing the big role in the distortion of the facts by showing like if this occasion is all about santa and he's always the number 1 present in this occasion, with gifts, trees and bla bla bla...
when u ask many kids about this occasion, unfortunately, all they talk is about santa and gifts, and who to blame, i guess, schools, parents, tvs.... |

I do think that all that you guys & girls are saying relatively holds a explanation by its self...
I am pretty sure & agree with most of you that we lost the true spirit of having Christmas in the first place.... it's not about the gift as it is about sharing, loving, & the joy of helping people whom are in need. We are far from being perfect, & with all the pressure of daily life we tend to forget the simple meaning! That's why I want you to take some time & think how you can make this Christmas different... how you can celebrate it differently... how to put a smile on the face of one who is in need! Look around you... & open your eyes, mind, & heart. It is about CHRISTMAS.... not X-mas..... it's not ANTICONSTITUTIONELEMENT 'I'm not sure if I even wrote that right ;)' so if won't take us more time to write that down... Cheers... |
The use of “Xmas” in place of “Christmas” is disrespectful? you think it is a deliberate attempt to secularize the holiday? But this abbreviation is nothing new. It’s been used since ancient times, with written references going back at least a thousand years.
So why the X? The Greek word for Christ starts with the letter “chi,” which is represented by an X in the Greek alphabet. In early manuscripts of the New Testament, Christ’s name was often abbreviated as X. And in the Middle Ages, “Xian” and “Xianity” were used to shorten Christian and Christianity. |
