The reason I prefer English is that I'm read Arabic very slowly and don't know how to write Arabic.
Most times I skip threads that are in Arabic.

for those who have a 32-bit operating system and want to write in arabic, download Google transliteration. it is similar to yamli.com (or maybe better).
anyway, i prefer english but i don't mind few topics and replies in arabic.

Note that arabic is the native language of most members.
You can keep skipping such threads like I do when I don't understand them, no one making you to visit them.

yeah, english is wayyyyyyy better then arabic and i don't like arabic and i wish lebanon speaks english as a mother tong. arabic is useless and outdated and can't keep with the scientific progress. just imagine an engineering school in arabic lool what would the courses look like.
In addition, english is cooler, it has words like ROFLMAO and STFU and n00b. and it also supports abbreviations. RAP is better in english too. there is no arabic vocal trance, and poems is the only thing where arabic excells, but who likes poems anyway.
and LADY GAGA doesn't speak arabic.

eh la2, although I don't like the idea of arabic font in the forum, but the guy has a point in choosing arabic, because its our spoken language, another reason is cuz we're an arab country (lel 2asaf lool) So chinese and japanese language is too irrelevant here..easy on the sushi :p

English is one of the most stupid languages in the world, that's why it isn't hard to understand it. I hope your country will never choose it. English just can help ppl to communicate. But you have your language which is one of the most beautiful languages in the world.
But I agree that english is better for an engineering school because it doesn't have anything for emotions and it looks like a programming language.

About keyboard there's no problem here to just remember what key is where if you haven't the arabic one. It's not a reason to reject your language. You just have to create a table and print it and remember it or use it like a hint. And to install keyboard and arabic language support you'll just need a disk with win XP and some minutes.

If you want to get in to which language is the better one, then from what I know, English is one of the worst languages grammatically, it's filled with exceptions. This is coming from a professor we have at our Uni.
We had this conversation with him a couple of months back, he said that the only reason the language is so wide spread is because of the British colonization and that it's a very hard language to learn when compared to others, including languages that don't use the Roman alphabet.

I also remember reading about Arabic being grammatically perfect, don't know if this is true cause I don't know the language that well.

The Arabic Language is one of the most complexe,beautiful linguistic language in the world, it is one of the most expressive language that humans knows, sometimes it is more expressive than silence itself.

Yes and that's because it's the most widespread language. No problem there. It's just that english is easy and helps people communicate.

And i'm with sheriff ice 100%. No language is as articulate or as beautiful as the arabic language. And i find myself to be truly lacking because i find myself incapable of reading truly articulate arabic texts.

This isn't a matter of arabic pride or anything of a sort. Arabic language is just so damned beautiful!!!

But in vcoderz, seeing as not all members can read arabic then english is the best choice since all members can use it.

arabic is outdated weather we like this or not , its a fact not an opinion , and arabic is one of the hardest languages in the world to the extent that its very hard on the people who have it as a mother tongue , i mean i feel disgusted every time i read about its grammar and i always hated the "i3rab" thingy , such a stupid thing! most of the university students in lebanon are weak in arabic but strong in english .
then if i had to write in arabic it would take me hours to write a paragraph like this one , not to mention the limitations of expressing myself cause of the lack of arabic terms in my knowledge.
so a language should be hard in order to be smart?? i find english as the smartest language on the planet for being so easy that you dont need to crack your head open to understand it.

Basically, what you said here is that English is a language for people who can't handle grammar, which is kind of sad. Not only did you answer your previous question with an answer that contradicts your argument, your answer was also false.
The English language does have grammar, it's just that most people don't know the difference between "your" and "you're" and think that "beautifulest" is a word.

With globalization there must be a language that everyone can use to communicate. It just so happens that the British had a sport which was called "let's-see-how-many-countries-we-can-steal-kill-and-pillage-in-before-their-people-get-pissed", that sport led to people in those countries using the English language as a second language, much like we in Lebanon have French.
With English being the most widespread, it became a global standard, not because it was very good, but because more people already knew it.

i positively absolutely seriously cannot believe how someone can take this post seriously and start asking me questions about every sentence. this is all sarcasm, and YES, i prefer english over arabic, i even tend to speak english with my friends who are well acquainted with this language.
Nevertheless, i have good arabic linguistic skills and i can write in arabic if it wasn't for the arabic keyboard, and i can understand arabic texts that have some embodied meanings. Preferring a language over the other doesn't mean i'm illiterate and that i barely know how to write my name in arabic.

FYI, arabic is the hardest alphabet based language to write. English is the easiest language to learn.
