LAptop Advise for Architecture Engineer

Hi,

I'm buying a laptop for my sister, for her architecture projects. She mostly work in Autocad/Arhicad (2D,3D), 3DMAX ..

Main concerns are:
------------------
higher resolution display, VGA
should be better built,
has greater battery life (not big issue, but good to have),
Memory capacity
HDD
......

Which do you recommend?
Note that she does't havve a desktop , so she probably will do all her work on the laptop.

Any comments are most welcome.

Thank you

I wouldn't recommend a laptop personally.

xcoder is right, you'll need a good PC (desktop), preferably with a big monitor (21" or even bigger). With a laptop she will have more problems.

Your ultimate choice.

One reason: Includes an SSD Drive.

yeh i have suggested a desktop to my sister, but she insists a laptop :)
regarding the apple choice, we prefer th windows 7 instead of mac OS since she used to work on Microsoft system,
i found something like below:

HP DV8-1190
Intel Quad Core i7-720QM
6GB Ram
1TB 7200RPM HDD
DVDRW Bluray
18.4" TFT
LAN, WIFI
GT230M 1GB up to 2.8GB VGA
Bluetooth / Cam/ Windows 7 Premium

HP DV6-2170
Intel Quad Core i7-720QM
4GB Ram
640GB HDD
DVDRW
15.6" LED
LAN, WIFI
GT230M 1GB up to 2.8GB VGA
Fingerprint /Bluetooth/Cam/Windows 7 Premium 64-Bit

Toshiba Qosmio X500-11G Intel Quad Core i7-720QM
8GB Ram
2X 500GB HDD
DVDRW Bluray
18.4" LED
LAN, WIFI/BT
GTS360M 1GB up to 5GB
Cam/ Fingerprint/ Windows 7Premium64-bit

i think the 18 inch is big choice for a girl , i need something with 16 inch screen

i didn't choose yet , if any other suggestion would be thankful
Thanks

first of all, the girl needs a damn laptop.
second, a macbook pro doesn't run most of the software she'll be using during her career.
third, i recommend the Qosmio, for 2 reason: graphic power and screen size. (believe me, she'll have hard times designing stuff on a smaller screen)

RUSSIAN 04-30-2010 07:25 PM

Even 18" is small, with notebook you'll loose many, she will not be productive with it.

HP DV6-2170 is my laptop ^^
The COSMIO is "add lja7esh" bel 3arabe.
If the screen is the issue then get a PC :p
