After a loss in their second match to Serbia, Germany now finds themselves in need of a result to make it out of the group stage. They appeared to be a real contender with their opening match 4-0 win over Australia but Germany struggled against Serbia.

Ghana won their opening match Serbia and the drew their second match against Australia. They have the best chance of the remaining African sides to get out of the group stage. They could advance with a win, loss, or even a draw. Germany has the best goal difference of the group and a win would almost definitely give them the group title.

Germany should return to form similar to their first match but that won’t mean another comfortable win. Ghana have showed they are a capable side and it should be a close match. In the end, the quality of the Germans will prevail as they get a narrow victory.

My Prediction
Germany will win the match 3-1.

Group D has yet to decide either of the knockout stage spots as all four teams are still in contention. Australia has the least chance of making it out while the other three are all very close. Germany appeared to be the favorite to cruise into the next round but a loss to Serbia has the standings very close. So, how can each team qualify for the next round? Below are the full list of scenarios for Group D.

The simplest scenarios are that Ghana, Germany and Serbia all advance with a win. Australia must win and get help.

Ghana advances with:
(A) Win or tie versus Germany
(B) Loss and Australia-Serbia tie IF Serbia does not make up tiebreakers
(C) Loss and Australia win IF Australia does not make up tiebreakers (Australia is way behind on goal differential)

Germany advances with:
(A) Win versus Ghana
(B) Tie and Serbia-Australia tie IF Serbia does not make up tiebreakers
(C) Tie and Australia win IF Australia does not make up tiebreakers

Serbia advances with:
(A) Win versus Australia
(B) Tie and Ghana win
(C) Tie and Ghana-Germany tie AND make up tiebreakers on Germany

Australia advances with:
(A) Win versus Serbia and Ghana win
(B) Win and Germany win and make up tiebreakers on Ghana
(C) Win and Ghana-Germany tie and make up tiebreakers on Germany (not likely)

I say Germany 1-1 Ghana

Ghana is a good team, but they are fighters - nothing less, nothing more - They create lots of chances but they dnt have the finishing touches. Germany got both creating chances and the finishing touches (Podolski wasn't having a good day against Serbia bas he's good in his normal days)
My prediction is 2-0 Germany if things go as they were going for both teams, and if Ghana mesta2etlin KTIR then I guess 1-0 Ghana :ang:

But somethings should be changed; Cacau shouldn't play anymore, and Kiessling should get a chance to play, Podolski is good but I think Marin can do better than him on the left wing, Ozil is a great player but he should focus more on the ball, he lacks some experience...

luck was in Serbian side in their game against germany and that's why they won... because australia who lost the game against germany 4-0, beats serbia who won 1-0 against the 10 german players...

Ghana’s defensive 4-5-1 shape is exactly the best way to play against Germany, it was a difficult game and maybe it the most difficult game that germany will play in this world-cup... no one is better than us...

Yep Confucius, I also noticed Ozil has fitness problems. He gets tried easily. In Serbia match, he could barely breath and was subbed at minute 65 or something. That is the reason why he isn't focused because he gets tired and you know how tiredness can affect your way of play. He should work on his fitness although you can't blame the guy very much. A full season with Werder Bremen giving his very best and being the leader and playing in almost all matches and now comes and tries to lead Germany, he needs some rest.lol But I really like him. His season with Werder Bremen made me like him a lot. His one-touch are just incredible. He reminds me a bit of Pirlo with his touches and the way he runs and his vision, although he is clearly a more attacking player.

As for the next match, I think England might just win it. Germany had a very shaky defense, I know they were attacking, but they always do and if England were on their day, remember they are the sharpest team which means they don't miss chances. I see next game being England sitting back and Germany attacking and in the end England scoring through the spaces left by the German players.

Anyway Germany should worry about one thing more important than that which is Shweinsteiger and Ozil playing. They both felt problems and remember Germany don't have a CM to replace Shweinsteiger. He put in Kroos who is a pure attacking player. If they can't be fit, this will be worse for Germany. Should be a good match to watch.

@KeX: Yeah I agree with everything u've said, my prediction is 1-0 England cz see..England isn't that fast, but they've got a great line of defence and AMAZING experience on their players, they'll probs take some beating first by the Germans, the Germans won't score - the English will counter attack since the Germans are now tired (due to stamina issues that we've seen so far) - Rooney baddo 100 seneh la yet3ab and his speed will probs punish the Germans late at the end of the game - Loew himself said (read it in an article somewhere) that he fears Rooney's late game explosion against Germany.

Yes, i agree with you. The scary thing yesterday was that the Germans were pretty suspect on the back line. Lahm saved them a couple times, plus i think that against ghana and serbia also the offense was not so good.
But with 11 player, and Klose back, I don't think they should have too much problem creating more offense and goals.
