Unlocking iphones with i os 4
 

Just a quick question guys. I'm planning to get a new iphone 3gs soon hopefully, and i've been reading about i OS 4.
Now my brother tells me it can't be unlocked in lebanon, and that i'd better not risk updating it and having it unlocked, because iphones with OS 4 can't be unlocked yet, although i've been reading up on Google about jailbreaking iphone with OS 4. And i'm at a loss now.

Can someone tell me what the real deal is? Thanks :D

u can jailbreak it and thus it will will be arabic supported and taweb3o
for the GSM i am not fu,lly sure but it is built in and unlocked .....ya3ne when u buy it from outside just buy the international one it will work every where and support all type of GSMz......

just google the new OS and update it then jailbreak if u know how 2 do it ......if not i would xplain

I have a fixed budget. I will be getting it from the U.S. This is why i will be getting the iphone :p

OS 4 is not unlocked yet... they were only able to jailbreak it so far. But it looks the unlocking will be coming soon.
You might as well get the iPhone4 instead of the 3Gs and that way you can get it factory unlocked.

get an android device so that you don't need to unlock it :D

I was thinking about the motorola droid x. It wasn't as expensive as i thought it would be in the U.S. But i was advised not to get it but many people. Having little experience in smartphones and PDAs i took their word for it.

What do you advise?

Would you guys find out if there is HTC Evo in Lebanon, i would love to have one, but here its exclusive with Sprint, and i don't want to pay $400 to break my contract with my existing company!

The iPhone 4 is gonna be sold UNLOCKED in Canada starting next week. So if you can buy one from here you will have a legit phone unlocked from the factory !!!

All android phones are sold unlocked in lebanon.. for nice prices. I have the htc desire, it's awesome.
Htc evo is sold for 800 bux here, and it wont even make calls because it is CDMA only.
Iphone 3gs is inferior to the top android phones and yet more expensive, and the iphone 4 is as good but will be sold in canada unlocked for 630 i guess and the price will rise a lot in lebanon.

how much htc desire cost here in lebanon ? is it worth it ( better the iphone 3gs ? ) ... and what about htc hd2 ?

HTC desire 550$, much better than iCrap (including iShit 4) and much much much better than HD2.
btw, i read about kain talking about the Droid X, well, it is CDMA only.. won't work in lebanon.
Phones from Sprint and Verizon are CDMA phones, forget them.

BlackBerry is a business phone and not a show off type of phone. And no other phone can replace BlackBerry for it's business use the same as no matter how hard you try but no other phones replace the iPhone in it's category.
In mid August BB is introducing an new line which is the 9800 torch and a new OS 6.

well am not pro with cell phones but i hear that iphone apps are a deal winner for the iphone ... so does the htc have free and amusing apps like the iphone ?

550$ sounds like a good deal :) , is this the best htc phone to get here in lebanon ? or htc incredible and legend are better ?

The android apps are plenty, 90000 or so.
The incredible is cdma, the legend is inferior to desire

The problem is that i'm on a limited budget. So i can only afford the iphone.

Just one last question. So if i get it from the u.s and update it here in lebanon there's basically no one who can help me unlock it again? I won't be able to update to OS 4?

It depends on the baseband.
I have iphone 3Gs with baseband 04.26.08 and it's unlockable with ultrasn0w.

on 23/6/2010 iphone dev team released OS 4.0 jail break and unlock, ana b nafsi i updated my 3G to OS 4.0 and jailbreaked & unlocked it, then i restored it back to 3.0.1 coz OS 4.0 on 3G is bullshit

all iphones can be jailbreaked and unlocked, no matter what is the OS, before 23/6/2010 there was a problem, where there was no unlock for OS 3.1.3 for 3G/3GS, this was solved with the release of OS 4.0 unlock that covered them all

Unlocking: Being able to use any SIM card in the world with your phone and not be limited to AT&T ( in Apple's case )
