theres much more guitarists than the posted ones and you cant make comparison between them coz every one created his own techniques except Kirk he used everybodys thechnique :D i would say hendrix is the king of them all coz he started the rock blues music he and clapton and many others like Jimmy page &.... created a style that was a school for many years and all guitarists and rock bands were influented by them w specially metallica, satriani, vaii, johnson, and many others. BTW kirk is from egyptian origin and his name is kirki 7amed. i wish i could vote for Santana for he is the best latin blues rocker ever but theres no one like the king Hendrix.

Sadly suffered a car accident....ever since then he hasn't been quite the same but he has made some of his best work in that time:)
Founder of neoclassical rock.
He was influenced by the works of Vivaldi...Bach and such composers.
Which is why you will see that a lot of his work have a "classical" feel. :) ---> Neoclassical

I voted other, and my vote goes for Mattias IA Eklundh. A Swedish underground guitarist that has done some outrageous solo albums on Freak Guitar, or with his band Freak Kitchen.
He also played on the solo album of Jonas Hellborg in some progressive Indian metal project called Art Metal.
He has an amazing technique and great feel.

All those listed on the pole are great and they all deserve to be 1st cause each has collaborated in creating a "new" sound at there time or are still doing it right now.

Anyone interested in guitar music check out Bumblefoot too aka "Ron thall" or BucketHead as well as the fore-mentioned Mattias and last but not least Guthrie Govan!
