Scotland's Brown Warns Italy: Be Afraid
 

Midfielder Scott Brown is the latest Scotland player to suggest that world champions 'may not fancy' Saturday's visit to Hampden Park for a crucial Euro 2004 qualifier.

It is not clear whether the Scotland squad are trying to psyche themselves up, or their opponents out, or both, but they are certainly sounding bullish ahead of Saturday's eagerly-anticipated showdown with World Cup winners Italy at Hampden - a game that could decide whether the Scots grace next summer's finals in Austria and Switzerland or not.
Victory for Scotland would ensure their qualification. But a draw or worse could mean heartbreak for the Scots, who have exceeded all expectations by standing on the verge of qualifying from a group that also contains both world champions Italy and runners-up France.
But midfielder Scott Brown reckons the Italian squad may 'not fancy' their trip to Hampden Park.
The Celtic star is confident Scotland will produce the performance they need at the weekend - and feels if anyone it is Italy who should be apprehensive.
"Our last few results have made us realise that we are capable of beating anyone on our day," Brown told the Daily Record.
"We've beaten France twice so why shouldn't we be confident?
"Italy? They're just another team - why should we be scared of them?"
He feels that a packed and partisan Hampden will boost Scotland's chances of winning.
"In fact, they should be scared of us. They have to come to Hampden and deal with us and deal with our supporters.
"I'm not sure that they'll fancy it - I certainly hope they don't. They're going to have 50,000 Scots right in their faces and they know they're going to have a helluva battle.
"These fans can make all the difference. They really are a 12th man for us and all the players appreciate the backing they have given us throughout the campaign.
"I don't think we could have got this far without them."

you must check well your informations before talking, Italy is third in the group with 23 pts BUT she only played 10 games WHILE France and Scotland own 25 and 24 pts from 11 games.
so you can't judge such a standing untill all the teams become equal in the number of played games.
