Why does evil exist in this world?
 

I was discussing with an old friend of mine about religion & I think he was using this point to try & disprove God... If he is all powerful & all knowing, and he created the universe, then he must have created all the evil that exists. If he loved us, y would he let evil things happen to gd ppl?

I said evil is just a word that ppl created & is subjective... Right now the consensus on murder is that its evil, but I'm sure there's one guy out here that doesn't agree... What if we all thought like that guy?

Sheriff actually although u r right about the subjectivity in morality and ethics, you can't dismiss the fact that some of our morality is innate in us, universal...two explanations for this innate morality exist:

1- A god, goddess, monster, creator, or gods and goddesses preprogrammed us with this innate morality...

2- This innate morality helped in a way our survival and reproduction(therefore existence as opposed to extinction), it was naturally selected through the process of evolution

take ur pick and then share with us :p

well I think evil exists to create imperfection on earth, without that earth would have been like heaven and therefore man's faith and determination and loyalty to god wouldn't be tested

some religious and "moutatarifin" consider the people who believe in another religions "evil" :crazy:
some people consider "cloning" an evil thing
some people consider sex an evil that kharab el deneh
some people consider "killing" as smthg NOT evil (جرائم الشرف)
i think that the word "evil" can be explained 7asab every shakhes 3ala zaw2o
so we cant just argue and discuss this "evil " thing
we should discuss the ACTS that r considered evil by some people and not evil by others

Evil exist cuz good exist.

Life consists on opposits as systa's said.
If there's no life, we won't have death... If there's no sadness, we won't have happiness... If there's no poor, we won't have rich... If something doesn't have an opposit we'll see it normal, which won't make us appreiate the good side of it... if u can't see the bad side, u won't be able to see the good side... If u can't see the full half of a cup u won't be able to see the empty half of it...
(Btw it's a philosophy subject that I have an exam about tomorrow ):)
