Assad: Syria is willing to welcome General Aoun

الأسد لـ"الوطن" القطرية": "أبواب سوريا مفتوحة للعماد عون عندما يرى أن الظروف مناسبة للزيارة فهو له احترام وسنستقبله في قصر الشعب"

elnashra

Personally i think General Aoun won't go to syria unless it's for the lebanese detainees in syrian jails.

This is a major cause that has to be solved and General Aoun raised it from 3 years with no response for the syrian or the lebanese part!

And of course we can't forget what could be the responses to this statement from the 14 feb gang side who will not rest until the mission of detroying general Aun image in front of his people is completed according to the american wish.

What will be the response of gma to this invitation? what will be the consequences and results?

I think its a mistake if he goes, la2eno he is the only one in the opposition not called a Syrian Agent, so I think he should stay here w bala ma yesma3 ness bteswa fejleh callin him an agent

Well GMA if he dicided to visit Syria, for sure he won't take into consideration what 14 feb will say ... he's alreay for them a syrian-iranian agent (as all the opposition) ...
and if there are supporters for GMA who will be influenced by the loyalist party, then they don't know GMA well and don't deserve to be his supporters

Will he accept the invitation ? i don't know
it depends on the reason ... I think GMA will go if he saw there will be a benefit from such visit (not a personel one)

Thank You ...

First of all, GMA shouldn't go unless a serious benefit for Lebanon depended on such a visit..Why? Everyone seems to forget that this is the same regime that occupied their country and that still has shown no remorse for what they have done and still won't disclose information about Lebanese Prisoners in their prisons.

So...an occupying country, prisoners of war, assassinations (at least the ones everyone knows they were responsible for) and endless violations of all human rights by that regime. In my opinion, this invitation is like Olmert saying, "We welcome Jonblat any time he sees fit for a visit to Israel."

Note: I am with both visits, if a serious benefit depended on them or a grave danger to Lebanon could be stopped by them...

GMA once said it in one of his interviews that he will not go to Syria unless he was commissioned موكل by the government and the people, never on a personal level.

I dont know why, but it just ticks me off when someone holds israel and syria in same regards. As if both of them should be treated in the same manner.
But when ur actually willing to accept peace talks with israel, then ur forgetting decades of massacres, slaughter and annahilation. Now we both now that the same realities cannot, under any circumstances be forced on both sides. I for one will never accept peace talks with israel, for i see it as an intruding force and a parasite that must be eradicated one way or another, its just not normal to have such a disruptive presence amidst us.

Ofcourse no two countries should be treated in the same manner...But while I wait and observe and study how my treatment to other countries should be in a manner that suits and benefit my country, you might be in a position where you brush of any benefit for your country due to a blinding obstacle of hatred and preexisting negative dispositions...

Countries don't act and are not steered by the collection of the common individual emotions. At least the ones that know what politics mean and seek to thrive in the area they are in. Even if Israel massacred yesterday, and we had evidence with no shred of doubt that Peace talks if established today will carry great value to our country, we will be stupid and UNPATRIOTIC if we don't establish the peace talks..

You do? Thanks goodness and the chances of life your negative disposition and apocalyptic goals that are blended with overwhelming antisemitism and sugarcoated with false ideas of justice are becoming less common day after day especially in our country. You happen to be stuck only with HA with this view. Even Aoun wants peace with Israel eventually. He is patriotic enough to know that the country he ought to be working for is his country, Lebanon, not the Arabic/Muslim world...

As you find it offensive and theoretically wrong to establish any kind of talks with a country you oppose and find its acts in the region and in the occupied Palestinian territories unwise or evil or inhumane or any such word; I by the same token find the dictatorship in Syria to be fundemantally and threoritcally repulsive and I would prefer if we didn't have to deal with that regime at all or meet any of its members...THATS theoretically...Halla2 if the benefits of my country dictate otherwise, the theory is suspended for the good of the country and people...
