u need to format:D
if u have installation cd put and repair the windows

we face this at the helpdesk, so either:
1- windows needs repair.
2- u need to format because of bad sectors on your HD (to change the location of the OS boot files).
3- if you are not able to do any of the above, you have to buy a new HD.

format is the solution
but u can repair it if u need information on the c: drive
so follow these steps if u r xp user:
1. boot on cd
2. on the first page press r
3. choose window # and for sure administrator pwd
4. type ::: copy cd(driveletter):\i386\NTLDR c:
example: copy e:\i386\NTLDR c:
5. a msg should appear (1 file copied)
6. type ::: fixboot (y)
7. type ::: exit
8. the system restart and here u are with yr windows
