wise vs smart...
 

A short time ago, I was discussing with a wise man the difference btw a SMART and a WISE person...
So ladies and gentlemen, I thought about hearing ur opinion about this subject...
Do u think there's a difference btw a smart and a wise person? why? or they're just the same? which one's life is better & who is able to succeed more??
At last no least, would u rather be a smart or wise person? why?

As for me I prefer being wise, & I'll post my reply later on :p

a wise person is to be able to let go, n by lettin' go is actually to receive n to receive = happiness... a wise person is like abousounlool :P, he is blessin' others by gd deeds n not playing favorites...

on the other hand,a smart person is someone who gains knowledge,
take it as this: reads fast, answers a lot of questions, knows a lot of words, nice, funny n brave...

Lemme make it short n sweet, A smart person has honed his/her intelligence with learning n is able to think abstractly to solve problems... Being smart means havin' knowledge n understandin' about a range wide or deep of information.... However, simply havin' knowledge alone doesn't make one wise... Smart ppl might make myopic decisions if usin' intelligence alone... Wisdom entails havin' the awareness, willingness n ability to use one’s intelligence in concert with experiences n principles...
While wise ppl learn from their own n others' experiences (failures as well as successes) n consider those with their knowledge as well as their values, to make decisions that are carefully weighed n reflect the bigger picture... and that's the bottom line cuz Justin said so:p

Being Wise, well its the fact that u can give good advice, and have good experience in life and cant change no matter what happens

Being Smart is somethin that can be change, its somethin based on studies, and alot of experience, being smart is somethin u earn by learning

In Conclusion:

Being Wise is somethin u are born with while being Smart is somethin u earn from others :D

totally disagree here :
wisdom comes from experience, while intelligence is innate.
smartness appear at early ages while wisdom takes a long time !!!!

The smart talks ... the Wise listens
The Smart solves problems ... The wise wants to know your answers
The Smart collects facts ... The wise knows how to use them
The Smart Wins battles ... The wise avoid them
The Smart performs really high in some situations ... The wise has a high average in all situations
You have to be smart first to become wise, eno you can't be wise and stupid !!
which takes us to a question : if stupid is the opposite of smart , what's the opposite of wise ? fool ... well folly is not yet approved

Personally the best description i read concerning wisdom is :
To be Wise is not simply to choose goodness over evil ...
To be wise is to be able to choose between two evils and pick the least evil !!!
I think that's the most difficult part in life ... to be able to know what's the least bad outcome from 2 given apparantly similar situations

a wise person, is a person who's always right, who calculates risk, shakhes ma byed3as "da3se na2sa" in all his acts, som1 who give advices based on his experience or a philosophy, he's a person "mara2 zaman 3leh" w ensen byedrous kel khotwe bya3mela
a smart person eza 3am nekhdo smart 3a kel l as3ida houwe ensen bel 3arabe men2elo "7arbou2" w as an exp abt a smart person "Assi Rehbani"

mainly:
Wise: used for people 50 years & above
Smart: for people less than 50 yrs ... :P

I totally disagree...
being wise or smart have no relation with age, many young people are wiser than old ones, it depends on the experiences they lived & they learned from... it's correct that who passed 50 years old have been in experiences more than young people but the importance if they learned from these experiences or it was just another waste of time...

wise or smart

smart doesnt have to be wise they could have a leak of experience and take wrong decision

but on the other side

wise person are smart, wise persons are smart ppl who knows how to controls their surrounding to fit there own benefit, wise persons could be good or bad,

being wise doesnt mean that you have to be good all time, being wise is relative, it depends on persons and situations and avoiding big loses
