Brazil To Stage World Cup 2010?

FIFA is allegedly considering hosting the 2010 World Cup in Brazil instead of South Africa.

FIFA president Joseph Blatter is reportedly unhappy with South Africa's lack of progress over the required procedures to host the tournament in two years.

Just two days ago, one football stadium in South Africa was reported to be at risk of being excluded from the Confederations Cup as there are doubts over whether it will be completed in time.

According to news daily AS, FIFA has already informed the South African government about its decision to consult the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) about the possibility of shifting the tournament to the South American country.

This way, Brazil, who was named as the host nation for the 2014 event, would stage the World Cup in 2010, while South Africa would have its chance four years later.

CBF has yet to answer on this matter, according to reports. Some days ago, Pelé assured that Brazil would have to make a big effort to be ready to host the tournament in 2010.

"There are three federations interested in replacing South Africa as hosts of the 2010 World Cup. That is a secret," Blatter said.

Brazil has already begun stadium construction procedures for the 2014 event and seems to be in pole position to host the tournament in two years.

sry but the news may not be accurate

cz since some years ago, FIFA is working on giving each continent a turn to host the world cup, and its turn for Africa, where 2 arab countries were candidates to host it, but south africa finally won the hosting...
plus its too late to change the decision...
maybe its for 2014 not 2010

it's not important since they will give it again to africa in 2014 while it must be in South America in that time. it's just an exchange.
giving it to Algeria or Morocco is useless, Brazil started the preparation for 2014 World Cup so they may be able to host the 2010 World Cup while the other countries preparations are Zero.

just imagine the FIFA canceling 2010 World Cup if no country was prepared enough to host it lool

this happened to lebanon (ASIA 2000) because of some problems related to saida (or tripoly.. can't recall) playground. Just a little bit of funding from the government a it will be OK for south africa to host the World Cup.
