Google Wave... (a new product of Google)
Yesterday i watchd the 80 minute presentation on Google Wave, and what i want to say is 3annnnjadddddddd wowwwwww.. chi bissatell .. believe me guys after using the Google wave, you'll say for all applications like msn messenger and yahoo and other, you're SO BORING...
............... It is difficult to describe what Wave is here, in the forum just go to wave.google.com or download the presentation and watch the MAGIC... .............. In brief here are some of the key points about google wave: * The thought behind Wave was to ask the question what would email look like if it was built today, given the advances on the Internet over the last few years. * Email is like snail mail. Wave creates a shared object that users can access and modify in real time. * Once a Wave is initiated, anyone can join at any point, and can get a review of how the Wave was formed, by using the 'Playback' function. You can therefore watch a sequence outlining all the changes that have taken place during the lifetime of the Wave. * Updates in the Wave are live and concurrent. With two browsers open, we saw character for character updates taking place in each browser, as the other person was typing. * You can plug the Wave into an external source e.g. a Blog, and updates made in the Wave appear in the Blog, and vice versa * While creating content it is possible to open discussion points at any part of the content. When collaboration is completed, and you are ready to 'publish' the document, it is possible to collapse these discussion points, so that you retain only the finished document. * You have access to a set of tools that allow you to organise the various Waves you participate in e.g. folders, searches, tags, and links. One nice feature demonstrated was the concept of a 'live search'. We were shown one browser doing a search of the 'Wave repository', and in the other browser a user was creating a new Wave. The 'live search' was able to immediately recognise the content included in the new Wave, and include this as part of the Search results. * Google Wave will be an Open Protocol. The Federated model will allow any organsiation to build their own internal Wave environment, that will be completely independent, and accessible only be internal employees. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --EVERYTHING Microsoft DOES is "FUD", where as everything Google does is "WOW"-- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
it is something similar to sharepoint and opengoo
|
if you want to compare wave to a microsoft product compare it with outlook, not sharepoint, many people said that wave will kill outlook... i can tell you that it's a google product (it means that for sure it's better than microsoft products) but my parents and their friends know how to use outlook and microsoft products, and they won't learn something new..
so Google still have a long way to go, because Microsoft still has everything everyone needs today and it's familiar... yes if anyone really wants to battle Microsoft, they have a very long way to go. but believe me, when most of people stop using microsoft products Big revolutions can immediately be brought to the computers world... |
I tried to watch the presentations yesterday night, but i fell asleep, google wave is the first trending topic on twitter and it has taken lot of attention.
They are using the same system as Gmail which is based on invitations for sometime. I believe 2010 is gonna be full of new products :D |
Welcome to the new generation of web technology: Cloud Computing.
From now and on, all our documents and files will be on online (storing and executing), so only you will use ur pc as a browser, and u don need a high hardware specs. Also on the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2010, Google Cloud will be released on the new netbooks, which is a new OS containing only a browser in addition to a google wave application. |
Welcome. Invasion of privacy!
By the way, what would happen if Microsoft or another imperialistic company bought Google? ^_^ |

i dont like getting into such discussions because it leads no where :) by i want to ask you What is Share Point my friend? Share Point makes outlook/word/excel/access/internet/exchange server/active directories/ on virtual world. I am not defending Microsoft, but they have good IT solution Packages that are best from all the rest, Google is always relying on the internet, but Microsoft is a real world solution. Whatever the rest do, Microsoft will be always the leader ;) |
