غالبية النصف الشمالي من الكرة الأرضية على موعد لمشاهدة حدث فريد ربما هو الأول من نوعه، حيث تخطط وكالة أبحاث الفضاء الأمريكية "ناسا"، لتدمير مركبتين فضائيتين تابعتين لها، من خلال تصادمهما بشكل متعمد بسطح القمر.
ومن المقرر أن يبدأ هذا التصادم في الساعة 7:31 صباح الجمعة، بحسب توقيت الساحل الأمريكي الشرقي، من خلال قيام مركبة فضائية بإسقاط صاروخ على سطح القمر، يتلوه سقوط القمر الصناعي LCROSS، الخاص برصد "الفوهات القمرية"، بعد نحو أربع دقائق من ارتطام الصاروخ بسطح القمر.

وتسعى ناسا إلى التأكد من وجود مياه في تربة القمر، حيث من المتوقع أن يحدث الصاروخ سحابة كثيفة من الغبار، يقدرها المسؤولون في ناسا بنحو 2200 كيلوغرام، بحيث يمكن للقمر LCROSS قياس نسبة المياه في تربة القمر، وإرسال نتائج فورية إلى الأرض، قبل أن يتحطم هو الآخر عند القطب الجنوبي للقمر.
ومن المقرر أن تعرض ناسا مشاهد هذا التصادم الفضائي في بث حي على موقعها الإلكتروني، باستخدام التليسكوب الفضائي العملاق "هابل"، بالإضافة إلى مئات التليسكوبات والمراصد الفلكية الأخرى بمختلف أنحاء العالم، التي سيكون بإمكانها التقاط صور لهذا الحدث الفريد.
وكان فريق من العلماء في وكالة "ناسا"، قد ذكروا أنهم توصلوا إلى دليل يفيد بوجود المياه على سطح القمر، بكميات أكبر مما كان يعتقد سابقاً، لكن الكميات المكتشفة ليست كبيرة، كما رجحوا أن المياه التي وجدت في المناطق القطبية على سطح القمر، ربما تكون قد تجمعت من مختلف المناطق على سطح القمر.
وكان العلماء يعتقدون منذ بدأت مهمة "أبولو" في ستينيات القرن الماضي، أن القمر جاف، ولا يحتوي إلا على كميات قليلة جداً من الماء، وذلك بعد أن فحصوا الصخور والأتربة التي جمعتها المهمات المتتالية التي أرسلت إلى القمر.

كما توصل العلماء في التسعينيات إلى وجد جيوب من الهيدروجين، وتوقعوا في ذلك الوقت اتحاد جزئيات الهيدروجين هذه مع الأوكسجين لتكوين الماء.

nice to watch but i hope that all of these experiments doesn't affect life on earth

such an explosion will make the moon crack , like in that movie i forgot its name , we'd see the moon in pieces in our sky :p

gravity is still to small and tere is no atmosphere so the sun fries any living thing that will come in its path

and water does not take such a miracle to exist
it's just H2O
and space has alot of hydrogen and some oxygen anyway

so i think its time to be in the spotlight again!

NASA's missions are SOO fake, w especially these days in the presence of no $ in US, nd some months ago a nasa commander in cheif announced that all missions will be delayed....
