FTP Server
 
Hey Guys,

I need to know more about FTP servers,

i read about setting it from home on one of the computers, now this is easy
bas my question is, if someone who i gave him a username n pass want to access the server, will his download speed depend on my upload speed or what?
i wanna share documents with someone in USA for business reasons, so everyday we need to update our databases,
the server will be in...my room:p...n i have IDM 512/128 DSL and it doubles @ night...is this good enough?

another question, can i buy a FTP server? but this i guess would take me forever to upload the updates:S...


what do you think guys?

in order to let the other person see the update, you NEED to upload, so there is no getaway from uploading.
i suggest you buy FTP hosting, simply because it will be faster for the person in the USA to access them.
i also doubt you can setup an FTP server at your home if you don't have a real IP, with DSL u don't have a real IP.

tab, After Ur Visit n Experience in Geneva, what's da fastest upload rate i can get in LEB:p?

u can always ask ur ISP if they have an offer for uploaders. on DSL the fastest u can get is 256kbps if you have the 1m/256k plan.
(in geneva i got 30mbps upload speed :D)

is VPS fast? easy to use?
i need smthn that i will put around 50 mb's each day 3aleh, so bade chi saree3 shwy w someone will access the server and copy the files i uploaded
what's da best and cheapest solution for that:(?
