Oprah Winfrey: Lebanon is a deeply conservative country
 

Finally, she says something true.

Yeah we are a conservative country compared to where she is...but an extremely liberal one compared to our surrounding..

Oprah and her likes won't be happy till they see gay lebanese men kissing in a mosque and church...

The funny thing is that Lebanon and the US are extremely similar when in comes to this topic.

We have our conservative nut cases, the have their conservative nut cases.
We have our liberal hippies, they have their liberal hippies.
And just like us, the nut cases and the hippies don't have two braincells to rub together.

What's wrong with what Oprah said? It's an honour to be called a deeply conservative country. The conservative Lebanese surely outnumber the non-conservative.

conservative people are people who rely on thousands year old books to tell them how to make their laws and live their lives instead of logic and science

isn't that what we are?
our parlement is split between religions because that is what we regard as the most important thing, I don't want a brilliant electric engineer as the minister of power, no, I want someone that prays the same way I do to take that ministry, oh he would do so much better at it

I don't want a brilliant military strategist to be the leader of our army, I want someone that does the cross sign to lead the army, w if we run out of christian military strategists, basita, any priest can be the army general and it is ok, as long as a muslim or a jew or heaven forbids an atheist takes that position

marrying a woman that is not a virgin is not even a subject of debate here, because our women's value is equal to the appearence of their genitals. no? before you rush to argue me just consider how many men divorced their women because of that and how many fathers are ashamed of their daughters because they had a relationship outside marriage. it doesn't matter much if she is educated or not, has a job or not these are small small irrelevant stuff, what matters is: is she a virgin?

and we are not conservative?
so some of our women can walk around without a veil, big deal :hawhaw: is that what we can be proud about and use to argue?
does someone dare say the word homosexual rights here?
does someone dare to go on TV and argue religion in public, saying that maybe it is all lies?

we are just a few steps in difference from saudis arabia

Reading between the lines I couldn't help but sensing that you have some sort of problem with people who think that they're better than others simply because their views are different. Am I right?

I have a problem with irrationnal thinking, I have a problem that people are mainly judged because of their views and other shallow stuff instead of being judged for who they are as people
