A Lebanese flag over 300 meters long entered the Guinness Book of World Records in Kuwait on Wednesday. The flag, which has a surface of 65,650 square meters, a length of 325 meters and a height of 202 meters, is the world’s largest. The project was sponsored by the Lebanese Defense Ministry and financed by Lebanese businessman Wadih Absi, and the flag was manufactured by Kuwaiti company Vista. After its win, the banner was transported to Lebanon by Middle East Airlines, and will be on display at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center on October 10, honoring the Lebanese Army for its 65th anniversary. The Lebanese Embassy in Kuwait said the project did not have a political message. “It’s a message of love and appreciation for Lebanon, its army and its people,” the embassy said. The Daily Star |

The large planet in the foreground is the newly discovered GJ 581g, which has a 37-day orbit right in the middle of the star's habitable zone and is only three to four times the mass of Earth, with a diameter 1.2 to 1.4 times that of Earth. source and more Info. |

رقم مليون، أمام منزله الكائن في حارة حريك، في إطار اختتامه لحملة المليون شجرة التي نظمتها مؤسسة جهاد البناء، وفي حضور وزير الزراعة الدكتور حسين الحاج حسن والنائب علي عمار وعدد من مسؤولي الحزب ، وأدلى بالتصريح الاتي: "بحمد الله عز وجل وبحضور الأخوة الكرام الأعزاء وفقنا اليوم لزرع الشجرة رقم مليون من حملة زرع مليون شجرة التي قامت بها خلال الأشهر الماضية مؤسسة جهاد البناء، وأحببنا أن يكون زرع هذه الشجرة في هذا المكان بالتحديد، أي أمام منزلنا في حارة حريك، المنزل الذي هدم أثناء حرب 2006 من باب الإشارة إلى دعوة أتوجه بها إلى كل مواطن من اللبنانيين، لو أن كل مواطن لبناني قام بزرع شجرة أمام منزله، وتعهد برعايتها وسقايتها وحفظها، كيف يمكن أن يصبح شكل بلدنا أو مدننا أو قرانا، وطبعا هذه حاجة ملحة على كل صعيد. وفي إطار هذه الخطوة الميدانية نختتم عمليات زرع الشجر على أمل أن يكون إن شاء الله لقاؤنا في الاحتفال الذي تقيمه جمعية جهاد البناء لنتحدث عن الموضوع بشكل أوسع http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3113750_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3098338_n.jpg |
An international team of astronomers has observed what happens after asteroids crash together. Using Hubble to study the aftermath of one such collision over five months, they watched a strange, comet-like debris trail slowly evolve as the collision site orbited the Sun. This research gives clues about how asteroids behave when they collide, and how the fall-out from these impacts contributes to the dust that pervades the Solar System.
