would you kill him?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17336004
read this article, or at least the first paragraph. basically this guy is paralyzed completly, and he wants to die(they figured out what he wants using fancy electronic equipment that allows him to communicate) he is now appealing to the court to let a doctor kill him without this doctor having to face murder charges. if you had the authority to rule on this case, would you allow him to die? |
ahhhh man! such a hard one, i for one cannot say anything cz wa2ta on7att bl amr l we2e3 of taking away someone's life i can't say now shou ba3mol!
There is this feeling of frustration that u get when u read his story, this feeling of him having lived like this for 7 yrs and still cannot find it in him to adapt. Especially that he was "3ayyish" abel, so it's just VERY frustrating to stop and put urself (la sama7 alla) in his shoes :( i would very much consider ending my life aswell cz this isn't living, this is only existing so that the ones who love u can still interact with ur lifeless body but active mind. I mean it's kinda selfish to not kill him, if he could do it himself he would have done it already, w why do we not want to grant him this wish of relief? cz we want him around? for our pleasure? what about his own sake? can u imagine urself living in a chair all paralyzed after having tasted life in full motion? I don't see why not granting him this wish except for meaningless Taboos we hold in religious matters, humanitarianly speaking - the guy, in such a frustrating half living half dead situation - should be granted his wish.. |
This reminded me of a biography movie (You don't know Jack - played by Al Pacino) about Dr. Jack Kevorkian aka doctor death, he used to help such people by killing them, he called it "physician-assisted suicide" ... Great movie..
Regarding the topic.. YES I would kill him IF the law permits it |

maybe civil laws allow you to kill him, but of course religious values don't. Anyway i wouldn't kill him, not because of religious reasons, but because I don't have the right to end someone's life who didn't cause any harm to me. If a machine is certain that he wishes to die, we can't be certain since he is paralyzed. Even if it was true(wanting to die), the guy is desperate and not conscious of what he's wishing, so he doesn't have the necessary legal capacity to decide. In addition to that he's equal to a person who wants to commit suicide, would you help a man to suicide? I would just wish him patience and the ability to be healed in the future by a miracle or with medical evolution. |
Yes i would , a man without a purpose in life is not a living man! whats his purpose? everyone should put themselves in his place , death is a huge relief to him , every day is a living hell to him , this is a personal issue between him and a doctor , he agrees to be killed , and the doctor wants to kill him , thus the government should not interfere in this since it has no harm on anyone

he has nothing to live for, and he is still relatively young, he could live another 20 years before death comes for him, 20 years of not being able to do anything at all. and he wants to die |

a cure may also be never be found, how would they both feel after 10 years? :p
I am sure he thought well about it(heck he had nothing else to think about for 7 years) he is completely powerless over everything, can't he be given the choice to have authority over his life? should this be taken away from him as well? |

Meghwar the machine allow him to interact properly, ma 3am bt basser shou baddo l zalame, so it's clear when he said he wants to die.
7 years is a long time, it basically takes ppl who get wheelchaired 4 years to get out of the shock and depression of not being able to walk again, and that's the longest of shocks to get rid of, so 7 years later and he decided he wants death is coming from a sober mind that is accepting of the fact that he no longer is living, only existing to see and let see others whom he and they love. So i guess 7 yrs were a like a goodbye to him, plz do remember that the guy wasn't born like this, he has lived for all his 50-60 years in a happy and active way, for a guy with such a personality to become THIS, is not only depressing day in day out, it's TORTURE! so why be selfish? why not give him death and wait instead for technology that instead of investing in healthcare issues spends millions la bal billions!! on military researches?!?! leh ta make him wait for a decision w suffer? why? cz we have "values" religious and moral ones that say no suicide is allowed w it's not put in a strange position of killing the man who is most probably living hell each day? u don't know how he feels man, the guy is in agony, to ask to be killed isn't something easy to do, it takes a living hell or a crazy shocked mind to do so, and since 7 years takes away the shock, I'd say he's in a living hell and God will understand his will to die, ma 3a ases God is mighty God is forgiving? ma byetfahham wade3 such a case? grant him his relief please wa ella I'll go commit murder there for mercy's sake! |
