Religion's role in leb politics

im totally against it
but religion plays the biggest part in politics(in lebanon)
1st :f all look at how pany partis are for one religion only:
''7ezeb allah'' ''LF'' ''kata2ib''
2nd : study the percentage of the ''durziz'' in '' 2ichtiakiyeh''
or ''sunny'' in ''mosta2bal''
or ''shi3i in ''2amal''
u will find that at least 90 percent of each belong to the same religion of their leadres, coincidence? i think not!!!
3rd: remember the civil war when lebanon was split in ''gharbiye'' ''shar2iyeh'' (politics mixed with religion caused it)
4st: look at christians that dont like politics and speak in the name of ''we7de el massi7iyeh''

i hate it as much as you do
but the facts are fact

N.B: please disagree with me sow i wont loose hope in
''the great people of lebanon''

heyy i think that ur 100% right
everything in lebanon is relied to religion
unfortunatly lebanese pple don't take the political party on its program but they choose the party that has the same religion of them
let's take the elections case:b4 the elections i heard a lot of sunni pple supporting GMA and supporting the idea of 2ISLA7 AND TAGHYIR  but when mr HARIRI ordered the cheikh to do the TEKLIF SHAR3E every sunni voted to him
what can we say??!!!lebanon is so small to be divided that much  :S
7aram wake up lebanese pple wake up we r the new generation and we don't want to pay fot ur mistakes

Secularism... that's what should save our country...!

shi3i min b3albak 03-25-2006 09:19 PM

hi ..
well i agree with u,
but we do have more than ta2ifie in lebanon ...i think we have MANATI2IE ...

i think, and since the leb goverment not taking care abt the ppl anymore, ppl in every city in lebanon try to stick with the leader who will work for their city and their benifts ...
and since we are in lebanon separated by religions in the cities, uŽll see this kind of political parts ...

salam

Securalism could be the solution, but let me remind you that the Phalanges is a secular party and not a christian one.

Every society and country has the same problem, but it takes different form. Even the USA still witnesses every now and then some conflicts between black, white, and hispanics. They still complain from racism...
This is human nature...In israel, the conflict is eastern v/s western...and so on....the smart thing is to control this conflict, hope we will be able.
I hope FPM will continue to be a nonsecular party, if so, I am sure in the future other secular parties will form...and bit by bit, the nonsecular parties will dissolve when they loset their lust.

Re: religion's role in leb politics

Re: religion's role in leb politics

Hear me out, what you overlooked, even though it is the most obvious and the most significant, is the fact that all our political system is based on a balance between religions. Be it parliamentary seats, the presidency, the premiership, the seat of speaker of parliament or even ministries...

I agree too, but unless something really big, really fast hits all the authorities in Lebanon, the hope for secularism is pretty farfetched. I know we all call for secularism, but on the ground, not many of us feel it is the right principle in the Lebanon we live in. In most of our minds, unfortunately, gharbiyeh will be gharbiyeh, and shar2iyeh will be shar2iyeh...

Re: religion's role in leb politics

As GMA said massiret el te7rir kholset ba3ed 3ina l massira l as3ab hiye massiret el ta7arror.
lebanese are soo sticky to their religions.
but to talk poliics you have to talk ta2ifiye because they are mixed.
i think secularism is the best solution for lebanon.
before applying this we have to make people see each others as lebanese only and that religion is something personal.

Re: religion's role in leb politics

doing "nadwet" about it does not work
because it existe and no one listen
ta2ifiyeh is in our blod we cant give it out
accepting and dealing with it, is the better solution
