polygamy is: having many wives or many husbands.
Forms of polygamy:

Polygamy exists in three specific forms, including polygyny (one man having multiple wives), polyandry(one woman having multiple husbands), or group marriage (some combination of polygyny and polyandry). Historically, all three practices have been found, but polygyny is by far the most common.

Polygyny

Polygyny is described as when a man is either married to or involved in sexual relationship with a number of different females at one time. This is the most common form of polygamy. Polygyny is practiced in a traditional sense in many African cultures and countries even today, including South Africa and most of Southern and Central Africa

Polyandry

Polyandry is a mating practice where a woman has more than one male sexual partner simultaneously. Fraternal Polyandry was traditionally practiced among nomadic Tibetans including Nepal and parts of China, where it meant that two or more brothers share the same wife, having equal sexual access to her. It is believed to have occurred in societies with scarce environmental resources, as it is believed to limit human population growth. The wife can only have so many children in her life time, no matter how many husbands she has. (This number would be increased if polygyny were practiced, and a man had more than one wife. These wives could be simultaneously pregnant)[1] It is a rare form of marriage that is not just among the poor families, but also within the elite

Group marriage

Group marriage, or circle marriage, may exist in a number of forms, such as where more than one man and more than one woman form a single family unit, and all members of the marriage share parental responsibility for any children arising from the marriage. Another possible arrangement not thought to exist in reality, although occurring in science fiction (notably in Robert Heinlein's The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress), is the long-lived line marriage, in which deceased or departing spouses in the group are continually replaced by others, so that family property never becomes dispersed through inheritance.
Strictly speaking, cohabitation involving three or more sexually-involved people does not count as polygamy unless the participants at least claim to be married.

Marriage is based on Love... u just can't be in love with many person...
as for:
1- Polygyny: I think it's a fault, why the hell someone wants to marry many women:S? isn't enough just ONE....that we all call "THE ONE"
2- Polyandry:"two or more brothers share the same wife"...wtf? are they insane?!!! how do u feel that ur own brother is having sex with ur wife!!!
3-Group marriage: I heard about group work, when ppl help each other to form a subject or an essay or anythin'...BUT NOT A MARRIAGE!!...to be honest with ya..i didn't like at all these 3 sentences...and hell no i ain't gonna try it... It shouldn't be legal, imagine ur own brother is sleepin' with ur wife or ur brother's wife is ur wife too :|

i am against polygamy because 1st of all why do a man need more than one women? if he does feel that he needs more than one ..then it'd b better for him not to get married and ymess around add ma bedo !

i'd never accept the fact that my husband have another wife .. because the difference between love and friendship is that love isnt something we share .. but we do share friendship

polygamy is legal in the koran .. or the muslims got it wrong (correct me if i'm wrong) as i know the koran says "u have the right to have 4 womens BUT u'll have 2 treat them equaly" .. and it's really hard to treat the 4 women the same way .. so what i understand from this line from the koran is that u have no right to have more than a women .. (ps:i dont have the correct line)

i have no comment on the forms of palygamy coz they all talk abt the same thing "sharing love" or "marriage with no love"

i think that Polyandry and Group marriage is complete non sense and definitaly illegal
concerning polygamy in the coran ...
the coran says that it's not an oddity and it's not trespassing the limits of GOD
But it does not urge people to do that ...
on the contrary there's another place in the coran where it says "u will never treat them equal"
so practically it's not a standard thing in society
but still it's not an oddity ... in some cases it could be right (if the first wife accept)
especially in past eras (for example it happened a lot that when a guy dies, his brother marries his woman to take care of his brother's family)
In brief it's not a standard thing to do (men will never be fair) but it's not bizarre as well :)
