Dignity and Love

This thread was inspired by a quote i read by Ovid:

"Dignity and love do not blend well, nor do they continue long together".

You meet this special person, trust him, open your heart for him, loves him as u never did, try to make him happy as much as you can ...

but despite all this you find that this person is not treating you the same, you ask for him but he never asks, you always do nice gesture for him, he never does once ...

Your love for him is so big, but when you are alone your conscience start to hurt ... and you start to lie on urself and give lame excuses so that you feel that your dignity is saved and not touched ...

So ...
Everyone has his own dignity and at the same time has his heart,
Which one is more important ?
Your Dignity? or Your Love ?
Some People put dignity beyound everything ...
Other people are willing to sacrifice everything for their love
In the battle of tough relations, who should win ?

him is referring to "person" which could be a male of female ...
so both guyz and girlz are allowed ...

Well, For Me, And About The Example That You Gave, {you find that this person is not treating you the same}:
I Think That Dignity Is More Important Than Love, And I Don't Know How People Can Find Love With A Person That Doesn't Respect Them Or Doesn't Treat Them The Same Way That They Treat Him... :Tawa:
I Had A Relationship Last Year, Where I Felt That The Girl Was More Important Than Me, And It Was My Fault, Cause I Made Her More Important, And I Gave Her Everything She Wanted, And Did Everything She Asked, And I Hardly Got What I Wanted In Return, I Wasn't Treated The Way I Deserved, I Learned A Lot From That Relationship.

Now, I'm With A Girl :luv: I Don't Know What To Say About Her, I Just Can Tell You That Our Relationship Is Based On Equality Between Us, She Treats Me The Same Way I Treat Her, I Give Her Everything She Asks For, And She Gives Me Everything I Want, And Sometimes More, But I Can't Accept It, I Don't Want Her To Feel The Way I Felt Before With The Other Girl... And Her Way Of Treating Makes Me The Happiest Person On Earth, And I Know How Lucky I Am To Have A Girl Like Her.

So, I Think That Dignity Is More Important Than Love, And In The Battle Of Tough Relations, Dignity Should Win, And When Dignity Wins, You Can Have The "Love"...

Well i say that theirs no love without Dignity and vise versa ya3neh that they complete each other w once love overcomes dignity relation bitsir m3arada lal khatar coz than the heart will rule the mind and would become a crazy one sided love which might lead to many problems. i think once the person understand that Love=Dignity and respect that the relation will be as good as Tawas' relation :)

The person who doesn't treat u the same way as u did can b considerate as 2 results:

1- He doesn't loves u
2- He loves u but just find hard way to xpress his feelings

Sometimes, u surrunder 2 ur heart n think that u dun wanna messes it up or u're just think too much... but eventually... Who doesn't have Dignity..has nuth in his future life..so I prefer keeping my Dignity upon me n not gave it to love

Love comes.. love goes... but Dignity always stays

you posted this in 2007, and in 2007 it started happening to me, why didn't I read this then ? :P

well for me, it did not start out like that, it starts pretty equal and great and mutual and whatever you wanna call it, and you don't keep counting who is getting more and who is getting less

until a mysterious day comes along, and something I could not explain happens, the other person starts caring less and less, now a wise person(a person I was not back then) would walk away right there and then, but no I couldn't, I loved things as they were and I wanted to keep it that way, so you start pushing harder, you start giving more and more without getting an exact equivalence

and as I learned, humans get attached more when they give, when you sacrifice for someone you actually start liking that someone more, and that is how you find yourself stuck inside a loop, that by the end of it, you are left with nothing

One day you believe he / she is the world to you.
The next day you believe he / she didn't deserve your yesterday.
People are so unpredictable and those little lovely angels could be nothing but devils in disguise. Beware =)
