in a conversation, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!..
and IN case you did, it asks you if you want to download an executable,
DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT !...

HOWEVER if you actually clicked and downloaded an executable where you should have found a picture, and ran the executable, i think u deserve getting infected! I wont link to any fixes dunno if somebody else wants to.

Re: Msn Warning

Well i usually never download anything from MSN, and it really looks like a virus anyways :p .
Just i want to say, like god said in the other thread , stay away from Kaspersky, some stuff gets past its scan in some cases (and i've seen many), IMHO use NOD32, it's the best i've seen till now.

Re: Msn Warning

Okay here's the fix, worked for my brother and his friends.

1. Sign Out
2. Unnistall Windows Live Messenger (Control Panel > Add Remove Programs)
3. Go to System Restore and restore the system to a date before the date the problem started (all installed apps after this day will be removed, files won't be removed) (Start > All Programs > Accesories > System Tools > System Restore)
4. The PC will restart (it will take some times, it's normal - wait!)
5. The PC is now on, Windows Live Messenger is automaticly back, but now the PC is clean.
6. From now on, verify the file type before opening it, never open a picture/audio ... with an .exe extension and allways ask your friends if they are sending the file.

nah many people have system restore disabled including me it's a waste of time besides i think you need to specify a point earlier to be able to restore.
however i think the solution is to get avg update scan then unistall msn messenger and install it in another location.
that's what ibn_awa did and it worked just fine :)
