Shevchenko close to AC Milan return: Berlusconi
Chelsea's misfiring striker Andriy Shevchenko could soon be on his way back to AC Milan after just one season in the English Premiership. The 30-year-old Ukraine international has failed to live up to his illustrious reputation since his 30 million pounds transfer from the Serie A giants last year, scoring just four league goals for the Blues. AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi confirmed that his club are trying to bring Shevchenko back to the San Siro. "The other day when I spoke to (AC Milan vice-president) Galliani, the deal seemed 80 percent done," Berlusconi was quoted as saying in Friday's Gazzetta dello Sport. "If the situation has changed since then Galliani would have definitely told me. "Sheva has a great desire to return and there would be no problems in terms of his salary. He would be paid the same as our best players. "Then we need to reach an agreement with Chelsea over the transfer fee. I believe Sheva would be ideal to complete our attack." Milan, who won the Champions League last month after beating Liverpool 2-1 in the Athens final, have been linked with a move for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o. However, Berlusconi said he would prefer to get his hands on Shevchenko rather than the 26-year-old Cameroon international. "I like Eto'o, he's young, but I prefer Sheva." said the former Italian prime minister. "I am a romantic. Sheva is like a son to me and we have been through a lot together." Shevchenko joined AC Milan from Dynamo Kiev in 1999 and helped them win the 2002-2003 Champions League and the 2003-2004 Serie A title. Suazo in limbo as AC Milan and Inter bicker
MILAN, June 19 (Reuters) Cagliari striker David Suazo was involved in a tug-of-war between AC Milan and city rivals Inter today with both sides claiming he was now their player. The 27-year-old had looked set for Serie A champions Inter after Cagliari President Massimo Cellino said last week that a deal had been done. However, European champions AC Milan said today they had performed a night raid and bagged Suazo for themselves. ''The Honduran striker will wear the shirt of Milan next season,'' a statement said on Milan's Web site (www.acmilan.com). ''The transfer from Cagliari to the Rossoneri went ahead after negotiations during the night.'' Inter hit back saying that although Cagliari had agreed a new deal with Milan, the player himself had signed for Inter. ''With us there was complete agreement. This has been an amazing change of will. Anyway the player has signed for us so we will see,'' Inter president Massimo Moratti told his club's Web site (www.inter.it). DANGEROUS STRIKER Suazo scored 14 league goals last season having developed into one of the most dangerous strikers in Italy. In the 2005-06 season he scored 22 Serie A goals for Cagliari, breaking the club record of 21 league goals in a season that former Italy international Gigi Riva set in 1970. At the Italian Football Oscars in January this year, he shared the award for best foreign player in Serie A with AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka. The tussle is sure to fuel a simmering feud between the two Milan clubs, whose rivalry was intensified by Inter's league title and AC Milan's Champions League triumph last season. An anti-Inter banner unfurled on AC Milan's open-top bus during their Champions League celebrations also added spice. Milan, who struggled for goals early on last season and brought in Ronaldo from Real Madrid in January, had said their main transfer target was Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o. ''It is very probable that Eto'o will not come,'' Milan vice president Adriano Galliani told the Web site. ''There has been no intention to spite Inter. We followed Suazo even last year. Cellino said that negotiations with Inter were over therefore we started and concluded new talks.'' Suazo's possible arrival makes it less likely that Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko will be returning to Milan. Inter already have a number of attacking options but the future of Brazil forward Adriano is uncertain. Source ============== loool ... Suazo is one of the best strikers today. He should have been in some big club from seasons before. Anyway, let's see which team he will join. |

Re: Football Transfer News
SUAZO IS 'PERFECT' FOR ANCELOTTI MILAN, June 21 (Serie A) - AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti believes the imminent arrival of David Suazo is a major coup for the club. The Rossanero boss admitted his delight with the acquisition of the 27-year-old Honduras international, who is set to be Milan's first signing of the summer. The Cagliari striker had been close to joining Internazionale last week, but Milan won the race to sign the player having reached an agreement on a transfer fee, although Suazo is still negotiating personal terms. "It is a perfect deal, Suazo is a great player and I hope he will sign the contract soon," Ancelotti said. "I had asked the club to sign Suazo last summer but it didn't work out. "Now I hope he will join us because with him my team will make a leap in quality." Suazo was not Ancelotti's top target as he had been monitoring Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o while Arsenal's Thierry Henry had also been linked with a move to the San Siro. But Barcelona's refusal to sell Eto'o in particular has seen the European champions pursue other transfer targets. "Suazo remains a first-class choice for us," Ancelotti said. "It's true that Eto'o was our main aim but if Barca don't want to sell him we cannot steal the player from them." Suazo's arrival at the club could be delayed after the Italian Football League opened an investigation into the deal following a complaint by Inter. The Italian champions had agreed personal terms with Suazo and even claimed the player had already signed for them, despite the Nerazzurri failing to agree a fee with Cagliari. Milan swiftly stepped in and have agreed a fee reputed to be in the region of 14 million euros (£9.5m) for Suazo. |

Metzelder to arrive, three more to follow - Real chief
June 20, 2007 Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon has said that the club will sign Germany international Christoph Metzelder and three other players over the summer. "We've been working on new signings for the last three months. Metzelder is signed up and there are three more who are almost done," Calderon told AS. Of the three other players, Calderon remains hopeful that Milan's Kaka will move to the Bernabeu. Kaka has been a target for Calderon since he promised to sign the playmaker in his election campaign last June. "We all know that Kaka will have to force his exit from Milan...and I continue to believe that he will try," Calderon added. Calderon also has to decide on the future of coach Fabio Capello, who despite Sunday's La Liga triumph, has had an uneasy relationship with the president. Capello said winning this title had been the most difficult job in his career. "From the first day I have felt like a salmon forced to swim against the current," he said, before appealing to Calderon. "I need to talk to him. I know he brought me here to win and we have won and it seems to me I have done my duty." |

INTER WIN SUAZO BATTLE
Internazionale look to have beaten city rivals AC Milan to the signature of Cagliari forward David Suazo. Milan looked to have clinched the capture of the Honduras international striker but conceded defeat on Saturday as news that 27-year-old Suazo had sealed a deal with Inter broke. A statement posted on Milan's website read: "AC Milan had previously reached an agreement with Cagliari for the transfer of player David Suazo. "Milan learned after the fact that the player had already signed a contract with FC Internazionale and are now withdrawing from negotiations. "Milan want to emphasise that they have acted legally in conforming with the national and international sporting rules and regulations." Cagliari president Massimo Cellino had earlier revealed the deal that will be reportedly worth 14million euros to the Sardinian club. "Suazo called me at half past nine (on Friday evening) and told me he wanted to go to Inter," Cellino told www.gazzetta.it. "In tears, he told me that he was choosing Inter because they had followed him with great attention and (Inter coach Roberto) Mancini had spoken to him several times with much enthusiasm. "Even if he appreciated Milan's interest he was worried that they might be just trying to put a spanner in the works for Inter." |

It will be the biggest transfer this season if or actually when done. Soccer: Thierry Henry bids au revoir to Arsenal http://media.apn.co.nz/webcontent/im...ry_reuters.jpg Thierry Henry. Photo / Reuters English Premiership defenders can rest more easily with news that Thierry Henry is leaving Arsenal to join Barcelona. The French striker confirmed the move, subject to a medical, in a deal worth ?24 million. "I still must pass a medical on Monday but, yes, I have chosen Barcelona," Henry told French sports daily L'Equipe yesterday. "I will sign there for the next four seasons." Reports out of England last night suggested Gunners boss Ars?ne Wenger brokered the sale of the club captain with Barcelona. Henry's signing ends a year-long saga. Last summer, he was close to moving to Barca only to sign a new four-year deal at Arsenal and pledge that he would lead them into the new Emirates Stadium and finish his career with the club. However, a number of factors have unsettled him and the impact of the departure of David Dein should not be underestimated. The 29-year-old will join Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o in one of the greatest strikeforces ever assembled but Barca is likely to let some quality players go. If striker Eidur Gudjohnsen is released, he reportedly is keen on a return to the English Premier League. Having had spells with Bolton and Chelsea, the Icelandic forward would adjust quickly to the English league and clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle might be interested. Argentinian forward Javier Saviola is out of contract at Camp Nou and reportedly is unhappy that he doesn't get many starts. He spent two seasons on loan at Monaco and Sevilla having joined Barca from River Plate in 2001. Henry's arrival would mean even fewer chances of starting for Barca and he could move to another Spanish club or return to his homeland. Despite beating Barcelona to the Spanish league title with a late surge, Real Madrid might also react to Henry's arrival into Spanish football by attracting some big stars. David Beckham is on his way to Major League Soccer with the Los Angeles Galaxy and the club has said farewell to other "galacticos" - Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos. |
