The end of "our" world!
 

Do you have any (non religious, scientific) ideas about the end of the world ?

I personally think that within the next 2 generations, life on earth will come near extinction! because of:
-wars
-scientific development that destroys nature (ad ma yjarrbo ya3mlo new systems that dont hurt nature, they're just making it worse)
-The new mentality, those who will have power, will destroy others to rule themselves, they have the power to do so already ! it's just a matter of time til it happens

So thats my point of view, mankind will exterminate itself within the next 100 - 200 years!

Say what u really think, dont fantasize.. and WHEN it will happen !

1- I call for an Extraterrestrial Mass Destruction Invasion :o
2- All u've ever wanted 2 know about meteors, volcanoes, black holes, nukes, climatic shifts n weird molecular disasters may be the first main reason of the end of the world
3- a world's castastrophic event for unknown reasons

basically, that's what i think of as an end of this world

it will be cuz of an asteroid , Yup it will hit the earth , while all people are fiting , rich men eatin like pigs and buying extreme expensive useless stuff and poor people dyin cuz of hunger , while greed and love for power is in the soul of everyone and materialistic life is all wat they care about ... it will come to end this life ...

2-society corruption,gays marriage ...
3-New viruses and diseases ...
4-fast development and environemental disasters..

I don't think it's near altough now there is some countries who have the ability to launch a nuclear war i think that the end of the world won't be before some thousand years ..
anyway i don't care about it and i don't think about it,when it comes i won't even know it if i was already dead, and even if it happened in our time i won't know it because i'll die when it comes and i won't have the time to think if it's an accident or the end of the world :p

Tsunami in Lebanon
 

Now a new underwater survey has finally uncovered the fault likely responsible for the catastrophe and shown that it rumbles approximately every 1,500 years—which means a disaster is due any day now.
"It is just a matter of time before a destructive tsunami hits this region again," said Iain Stewart, an earthquake expert at the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom not involved in the underwater survey.

The ample archaeological and historical evidence from the A.D. 551 earthquake indicate that it was truly a catastrophic event. The resulting tsunami damaged all major coastal cities between Tripoli and Tyr, and Tripoli was reported to have "drowned." (See a Lebanon map.)

Hitting the Jackpot

Earthquakes are common in Lebanon, but many of the faults remain hidden beneath the deep waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Surveying the region is difficult because some of the continental shelf drops off very quickly in places, reaching water depths of around 4,921 feet (1,500 meters) only five miles (eight kilometers) from the shore.

Ata Elias of the National Center for Geophysical Research in Beirut, Lebanon, and his colleagues had a hunch that the fault responsible for the A.D. 551 earthquake would lie in this offshore region. So they did an underwater geophysical survey—and "hit the jackpot," Elias said.

By bouncing radio waves off the sea floor and studying the reflection patterns, Elias and his team were able to build a three-dimensional map showing all the lumps and bumps on the ocean bottom.

Running parallel to the Middle Eastern coast, they discovered a distinctive stepped ridge—the shape made by a "thrust" fault when one of Earth's tectonic plates shoves its way beneath another.

"We inferred that this thrust fault is the source of major earthquakes," Elias said.

The team was able to trace this fault along the coast for more than 62 miles (100 kilometers).

seriously there should be emrgency plans and sirens to alert everyone to run away before a big disaster happens. WE don't want to see what happened in South Asia from 2 years happening in lebanon :(

as u know earth life time is divided by eras, like the era dinosors era bla bla till humans, i think earth will continue but humans will desappear, and the nxt era is going to be the era of the "bacteria"and "viruses", humans at the moment are loosing battle agaisnt bacteria and viruses,
and historicaly , every dominating species has desappeared and smallest one dominate.
