Del Piero issues Italy ultimatum
 

- Alessandro Del Piero has issued an ultimatum to Italy coach Roberto Donadoni: Use me as a forward or don't use me at all.
"In short, Donadoni can call me up if he needs a forward, otherwise leave me at home," Del Piero said in an interview with Italy's Sky TV late Tuesday.
Del Piero lined up as an attacking midfielder in Italy's 0-0 draw with France earlier this month and was whistled off the field following a lackluster performance.
"I've already spoken with Donadoni," Del Piero said. "It's only fair that I'm used in the position I consider mine, where I've scored goals.
"As a forward I'm able to make an impact, not as a midfielder. There are other players - such as (Antonio) Di Natale - that do well in that position, and probably do it better than I can," Del Piero added.
Four days after the France game, Del Piero was relegated to the tribune as Di Natale scored both goals in Italy's 2-1 win over Ukraine.
At 32, Del Piero is not yet ready to retire from international play, as Francesco Totti and Alessandro Nesta have done recently.
"I would be very upset, because I have a special feeling for the national team," he said. "I would like to finish this cycle and go to the European Championship."
Italy trails Group B leader Scotland by one point in Euro 2008 qualifying.
With 27 goals, Del Piero is tied for fourth on Italy's all-time list with Roberto Baggio, eight behind leader Luigi Riva.

Italy should consider Donadoni , till now i can only see italy going out of the EURO qualifiers , they have to win in scotland or else bye bye .

lippi was a gr8 coach , they should get a coach like him not like donadoni :S

Yeah, thats right...Danadoni is a really bad coach who doesnt know how to play the right tactics when it comes to Italy...Wainak ya Lippi:@...Anyway man we will surely qualify, but we surely will not win the Euro Cup 2008 with this stupid "coach":(
