You can't talk about it unless you've had it. When I was younger and was struggling with my homosexuality, I thought this was all wrong. I already wrote about this on these forums, you can go back and read my very older posts. Anyway, in a nutshell, all gay guys (I don't know about girls) have thought that they're wrong, something's wrong with them, and "la2 ana manneh louteh". For me, as I grew up, I fought these feelings hard. I used to force myself to go out with girls, and once I went on too far and had sex with a girl, just to prove to myself that I can do it. Well, I could do it. But it was meaningless. There was no sexual attraction, and no love. At least from my side.
So you just can't say I control this. I do not! And you can't say the opposite because you haven't been in my shoes. I was gay and I hated myself so bad, and the society and the people who think sick like you, drove me to disconnect myself from people at some times. (For the record: homophobia drives many gay men and women to suicide, and there is a high suicide rate because of gay bashers who think they're healthy and we are sick and because of that we should die... does your religion teach you that? Killing people? Silly!)
You asked about my religious faith. I don't see any connection... but here you go. I'm a Christian, and I'm a believer. I do what God asks me to so: love and help others, be good to people, pray, etc. I haven't yet found how loving a person would constitute a sin and lead me to spiritual death/suffering. That is how millions of other Chrisitans, Muslims, Jews, Buddhas, atheists, et. al think. The Earth is round, burn us! (Weinak ya Gilileo :P)
Seriously, why am I putting up with you? I got past this loohoohoooong ago. I just take all your crap for the sake of saying "We fought. You just didn't listen to us."
We're not pathetic people looking up to you to accept us. We really don't need that. We've existed since thousands of years, and we will still do. The fact that we're more open about it hurts you, annoys you, or whatever, but it won't go away. We will still be an influential force in politics, religion, arts, science, sports, and anything you could think of. And you can't do anything about it. Go feel pitty for yourself. There are tens of thousands of gay men in Lebanon. Add to them the lesbians, and the bisexuals... you got a population. Now burn us, if you can ;-) :-)
