Well, anything that could stimulate your happiness is worth spending money on.

What can make you happy? a book? a picnic? swimming? eating? drinking?
I guess it's as worth spending money on those as spending money on "strip clubs" for people getting enough utility to justify their visit to it.

It's a matter of relativity, it's wrong to say "it's dumb for people to spend money on strip clubs" and they would think its dumb for you to spend money on books and candies.

Anything that could bring you enough utility to give you a consumer surplus is worth spending money on.
