Hull City have had a bid, believed to be in the region of £6million, accepted for Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell.
The Tigers appear to have won the race to sign the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.
A brief statement on the Tigers' official website read: "Following reports in the media this weekend, the club can confirm that it has had an offer accepted by Manchester United for striker Fraizer Campbell.
"Consequently, the club has been given permission to open talks with Campbell."
The England Under-21 international enjoyed a successful 2007-08 season on loan at the KC Stadium, finding the net 15 times in 37 appearances as Phil Brown's side won promotion to the Premier League.
However, City were unable to agree a deal to sign the striker again last summer, so he moved to White Hart Lane on loan as part of the move that saw Dimitar Berbatov go to Old Trafford.
Sunderland, Stoke City and Fulham were also believed to be keeping tabs on Campbell.
