Suggestion:
Don't let the avatars be uploaded to the website. Let the avatar input field be just a URL input so that members link to their avatar from external sources. This will save the website lots of bandwidth (This is what I'm doing on BS).

Other than that, what I'm going to say might not be important, but the soft delete thing in the members visitors messages can be easily bypassed to a permanent delete instead. So no one will know what was the deleted message.

+ The signature thing can be done like the avatar. The images will be loaded from external sources which does not affect the server. You can limit also the size of the images being placed or the size of the whole signature as overall. But if you don't like the image idea, we can have text-based signatures (These are only suggestions).
