and you are assuming in the old days things were better because divorce was not common?
a man could beat his wife, force her to stay home and work all day, not give her money, rape her(it is still rape even if they are married if she is not ok with it) and she kept her mouth shut la2an 3eyb

and I believe freedome is never a bad thing, people don't have to spend a miserable 50 years together because at a given moment they said we want to be married. and the presence of divorce might be a good motive for the couple to make sure that the other person is happy

edit: and mich whenever a problem occur they get divorced. enno it's not magic or that simple, there are lawyers and money to spend and a long process involved ... I think bas for some reason or reasons people go through that, I think whoever goes through the trouble of getting a divorce and nullifiying a marriage and endign a relationship with someone they thought they wanted to spend their life with must have a good enough reason for him
