the analogy is false. When babies grow up to be be men and women they will realise that it is safe to go near the well if they take certain precautions. The monkeys will never try to figure how to get the banana without being sprayed. And similiarly many humans follow certain traditions as they are and never try to figure out a better way of yielding benefit out of stuff without getting hurt
Edit: specific example, thousands of years ago, blood transfusion caused disease and death because it was not done properly, so jews banned blood transfusion. And now, despite it becoming safe and a sure way to save lives, people are still following the tradition of no blood transfusion. Same applies for other things
