Yes, but I don't believe in "An eye for an eye". The criminal should receive a punishment equal to the crime he committed. Example, not all murder is the same, if someone killed for money then it's a bigger crime then killing for revenge.
However, I don't believe in the death penalty no matter what the crime may be. The reason is that a government representing the people has no right to kill, simply because not all people approve of the killing. And a government has also no right to ask the people if they approve or not, asking people to vote on such thing would be unfair, a person who might be against the death would then have to choose between sentencing an other human being to death or let someone who deserves to die live.
So when it comes to the death penalty, I believe justice shouldn't be the applied.
