The list of 32 qualified countries for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ is now complete. The eyes of the footballing world will now be turning to Leipzig, which will host the draw for the final phase on 9 December 2005, setting the course for how the tournament will unfold in sporting terms.
Worldwide media event

The draw for the final phase is attracting enormous interest among the media. More than 150 television and radio stations across 145 countries have applied for broadcasting rights. It is expected that 320 million viewers worldwide will follow the ceremony. There will be 120 commentary positions in the exhibition hall, with 850 national and international television and radio journalists from 55 countries reporting live, via delayed telecast or on individual sections of the proceedings.

As well as the major German networks, internationally reputed broadcasters such as RAI (Italy), BBC (England), TV Globo (Brazil), ABC and ESPN (USA), Televisa Mexiko (Mexico) and TF1 (France) will all be present. More "exotic" countries will also be represented, such as Georgia, Indonesia, Peru and Venezuela. The official worldwide feed will be provided by ARD, as commissioned by HBS (Host Broadcast Services), who are FIFA’s host broadcasters for the FIFA World Cup.
