it does 20 times more stuff
first you put everything on your hard drive
you can view all your pictures, listen to all your music, watch all your videos, browse the internet and play games
you can just do so much more, can in a way replace your pc for some tasks...it has yellow dog linux after all

you can plug in it any usb flash disk, any type of memory card/memory stick

so you can take for example your cell phone's or psp's memory plug it and copy your multimedia to your ps3's hard disk
on top of that you can add hard disk size to the ps3, you are not limited to 60gb

but to use linux you need a keyboard/mouse that i can give you too
