Well as most (or nobody

) know my favorite singer of all time is Abdel Halim Hafez ...
It's not because most say that when you are in love you listen to Abdel Halim ... I've been listening to him since i was 13 or 14 years old ... and back then i didn't care about these stuff ...
There is something in Abdel Halim that you can't find in any other singer or at least i didn't find it ... it's not only the great voice he has, but the feelings and honesty that he put in his songs ...
Um Kulthoum may have the biggest or strongest voice (i don't know the word to describe) but she lacks the feelings and honesty that Abdel Halim had ... When you listen to his songs, you can't but beleive every word he sings ... Actually there is a saying that goes like this: "abdel halim lied all his life except when he was on stage ... or don't beleive abdel halim unless he is singing" ... It's just a way to describe how much honest he was while singing and how much feelings he puts in the words that he sang ...
and apart from being a great singer ... he was a great man ... he made his way from zero to hero despite all the difficulties he encountered in his life ... he was very errogant according to those who knew him well but this errogance came from the high self confidence he had, he was sure he'll be a great singer someday
his life was really something interesting to read about ... it was so complicated with ups and downs, wins and losses, failure and success ...he has been accused to pretend he was sick just to gain sympathy from his fans until the illness had the final word and took with it one of the greatest arabic singer of all time on 30/03/77 ...
his funeral was the third largest one after Jamal abdel Nasser and Um Kulthoum ... he maybe gone, but his songs will remain alive forever
He sang for everything ... and he was great in all ... some of my favorites :
"
في يوم في شهر في سنة" : great song ... great meaning and so true (for him)
"
أحضان الحبايب" :saddest song i ever listened to ... and most beautiful lyrics i've heared ...
"
أهواك" : magnificent music ... outstanding "
تلحين" from abdel wahhab ... the transition between the 2 parts of the song is just amazing ... as if you are hearing 2 completely different songs wihtout loosing the essence and meaning of the whole song ...
"
رسالة من تحت الماء" and "
قارئة الفنجان" : great poems for the lovers of "Nizar Kabbani" ... with remarkable "
تلحين" from M.Mougi ...
"
موعود" and "
حاول تقتكرني" and "
مداح القمر" and "
زي الهوا" and "
أي دمعة حزن": excellent work between the poet Mohamad Hamzah, Baligh Hamdi (simply a genious when it comes to music) and Abdel Halim ... never heared such compete piece of works (
كلمات ولحن وصوت) ... very romantic songs
"
جبار": best music introduction u'll ever hear ... just amazing ... with beautiful lyrics
"
نبتدي منين الحكاية" and "
فاتت جنبنا" : it's like you are living a story with the songs ... just can't let it go ... you want to know the end of it ...
and not forgetting the many happy songs as "
ضحك ولعب وجد وحب" and "
قاضي البلاج" and "
جانا الهوا" ...etc and many others for different occasions
as well as the hundreds of patriotic songs sang by Abdel Halim ...
Really i don't know from where to start or end ...
There is another saying "
فيروز عند الصباح ..أم كلثوم عند المساء .. وعبد الحليم في جميع الأوقات"
Thank You ...
