a quick google search led me to this vista compatibility list:

it seems that visual studio 6 should be ran as administrator.
(right click, run as, type administrator, and make sure that there is an admin pass, type it and press ok)
halla2 if it does not work, i suggest microsoft visual studio 2005 express edition (find it on microsoft.com, it is free
)
if not, use bloodshed, or anything.
