systa, this is the subnet mask
if it's set to 255.255.255.0 ( class c network ) then your pc can "see" or access all computers that have the same first 3 sets.
ie: your IP is 10.10.10.1, u can see 10.10.10.5 but not 10.10.5.1
in 255.255.0.0 (class b network), you can see 10.10.5.1 but not 10.1.1.1
in 255.0.0.0 (class A network) you can see 10.1.1.1 but not 60.60.60.60

i'm Just giving examples.
google for the subnet mask in case u didn't understand.
