I see the chances of improvement to be 50-50.
It all depends on the elimination to the source of the country's problems, namly corruption. We will never have a functioning society if basic human rights aren't respected (Example, corruption in the police force and the legal system). We will not have any culture left if our land and heritage keeps getting sold to Saudi billionaires. We will never have a functioning government as long as foreign country's keep meddling. We will never have a stable economy as long as our "leaders" keep stealing from us. We will never have a good health-care system as long as the government keeps putting foreign policy ahead of internal policy. The source of most of these problems is corruption. Corruption has been "normal" in Lebanon for as long as it has had problems. Pay the school principal 1.000$ and you get high grades at the expense of every other student. Pay the police officer 100$ and you won't get arrested at the expense of the victim. Pay the doctor 100$ and he'll give you a box of drugs at the expense of every future drug addict. Pay the minister 10.000$ and you get three wishes at the expense of the country. If corruption isn't removed we will eventually be reduced to an Afghanistan or a Somalia. If it is removed however, then then the possibility's are endless. |
