Bayern Munich will take on Bolton Wanderers, Sporting Baraga, Red Star Belgrade and Aris in the UEFA group phase after the draw was made in Switzerland on Tuesday
The German giants are appearing in the competition for the first time in ten years and will have their work cut out against four tough sides. Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) have never lifted the UEFA Cup but won the Champions League back in 1991, while the other three clubs will be uncompromising as they view a game against Bayern as the highlight of the stage. Elsewhere, Italy's only representative Fiorentina have been paired with high-flying Villarreal and Greek outfit AEK, while Swiss top seeds Basel have a tough group that includes Hamburg, Rennes, Dinamo Zagreb and Brann. Group G looks set to be a tough won with Anderlecht and Tottenham meeting for the first time since the 1984 UEFA Cup Final, along with games against Michael Laudrup's Getafe, Happoel Tel Aviv and AaB. Atlético de Madrid's return to Europe has seen them handed a tough group that includes Pananthinaikos, Lokomotiv Moscow, FC Copenhagen and Aberdeen. In Group A, Louis Van Gaal's AZ, who missed out on a Champions League place on the last day of the Dutch season, meet Zenit, Everton, Nuremburg and Larissa.
