Default Some Weird News...

Businessman flies to Holland on his two-year-old daughter's passport:

LONDON (AFP) - At a time of heightened security at British airports, a businessman was allowed to fly from London to Amsterdam using his two-year-old daughter's passport.

Car rental firm boss Mark Coshever picked up the wrong passport but was twice waved through passport checks at London Luton Airport and onto his easyJet flight to Holland.

The 29-year-old told the newspaper he only realised his mistake when he touched down at Amsterdam and pointed out the fact to the immigration desk there.

Dutch officials then checked his identity and gave him a letter allowing him to stay in the country for 48 hours.

"I was shocked that I could fly to a major international airport on a child's passport," he was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

"It would be bad enough at the best of times. But after recent events you would think airline staff would be checking everything really thoroughly.

EasyJet admitted that staff misread Coshever's passport and had been disciplined.

Airport security was ramped up to unprecedented levels at airports in Britain and around the world after more than two dozen people were arrested in and around London August 10 over an alleged plot to blow up US-bound aircraft.

Marriage Proposals Gone Awry
Adam Sutton's elaborate plan to propose to Erika Brussee in July on a small chartered plane near Rome, Ga., didn't work out, as the engine stalled and the plane crashed (causing minor injuries) near their friends on the ground who were holding up signs with the actual proposal question for Brussee. Mark Papkey's elaborate plan to propose to Holly Barnes in June on a hot air balloon near Boston didn't work out, as the balloon drifted into wilderness, fuel ran out, and they and the pilot were forced to spend the night in the woods before being rescued. (Both Brussee and Barnes said yes.) (And in Wichita, Kan., in September, Kandi Blakney went to the courthouse for her wedding, but when a clerk pulled up her marriage license, two outstanding arrest warrants also came up, and she was jailed, in her wedding dress.)
