eh but then , bye bye the burst option , no more high speed downloads , maybe our downloads will be limited .
and they will get more expensive , or same price for less bandwidth . like theyr selling the unlimited 256 kbps for 33$ now , it might double with the legal lines. haida iza ma saret limited.

If all people switch to DSL, the service will become better. Things are like they are right now because first, you are in Lebanon. Second, the service is still new.

Well, they cannot correct the situation and eliminate corruption in 2 days... The work is still in progress and you have now the election coming. So there should be a lot of work after the election for whoever takes the ministry. Things might get better exponentially when users begin to switch to DSL. It's okay for suffering from a slow connection for a short period of time (by the way 128 is not that bad, I'm on 64...). This step is a MUST, it is really needed to be done sooner or later and don't tell me that they must provide some alternatives because there exists some alternatives even though they are weak; They cannot be other than that because you're in Lebanon (48 billion dollar). So be real.
Maybe you can come up with another plan. Share it here. |

Lemme explain the situation further.
Current VISP situation: The connection is getting back to normal and things are improving, few days ago we weren't able to open many websites and services such as MSN,facebook... Some are still blocked such as youtube video buffering... I don't really know about the burst speed change, i will give it a try later but the double speed at night is still there, at least that's what my provider is offering. I have a 256kbps account and it goes up to 512kbps between 11pm and 9am. Yet, the connection latency is pretty high but stable. I am getting an average of 500ms after being ~200ms. Things are improving but the switch to ogero hasn't finished yet. From the official side, the companies always had an alternative but always took the illegal way simply because it's cheaper. Ogero wasn't doing a great job either by limiting the ISPs quota in order to keep itself in the race. However i think a solution was found for both ISPs and Ogero where Ogero will increase the quota/limit given to the ISPs in return of turning all ISPs to the legal work which will drag millions to the state and connection stability. Things are still cloudy and we're waiting some answers from the telecommunication ministry regarding this subject and how is it improving.

This what is written on VISP's support website, what do u think?
Working hard now to improve gaming. The issue that we face challenging difficulties with many providers that we are using now. Because of recent events we install multiple backup links from local ISP's in Lebanon, who have independent connection, because suddently anyone connection can become illegal. It depends how well someone feel at morning, who have government power in hands. And most of ISP's provide crappy bandwidth even it is very expensive. But most of the things are sorted out. Also we are thinking to install on support website, how to use internet comfortably, to explain what is peak time, why internet slow at this time, how to download big files and a lot of data without risk of fair use (and such things) and etc. Today at evening we will do some maintenance, but it should'nt be noticed by users, since all bandwidth have backup now. Now major challenge is to get more bandwidth capacity. It will be done over multiple way: avoid interference that we have on RF part of modems, we are getting also more capacity from Ogero, as they excuse this time, that they dont have fiber lines to our location. Well, it seems close to truth, we so in Dora workers who is putting on "central" road fiber cables. We didn't forgot also that we promissed to explain what is happened. Just we have to wait legal case to process.
