I agree, w here comes the hard choice: A gf or a best friend? ana ma 3andeh meni3 oul lal kel ino my friend and I thought about it times and times again w its killing us sometimes bass I can control my feelings, coz I am a guy that puts his friends (the special ones) ahead of him, so I look at it like this, love hurts it hurts alot, and the last thing I would do is hurt my best friend, so ghas men 3anneh I have to control my feelings, and when u are able to control them u can tell ur actions between love and friendship, halla2 ana 3an nafseh I can control my feelings, coz I know these things arent jokes, u can hurt someone with it, hehe w bzon ino judging from my posts u should have known li braseh b2oulo

reviving an old thread to say I changed my mind
I no longer believe in a powerful friendship between a boy and a girl, and emotions have nothing to do with it.
you can have regular female friends, you see them, you talk and then you don't see them till month later, but real close female friends won't last because the relationship will be unbalanced. I have been in many before where I noticed, there is nothing for me in this relationship, there is almost nothing a girl can contribute into a friendship with a guy(except maybe an apple pie once every eon) .

so I fix the car, fix the computer, accompany her at night(many of these I did not do , I am just saying what a typical guy friend would benefit a girl) carry heavy objects listen to her complain, get her stolen softwares, help with homework, gives her a sense of protection

and it is just a friendship, I do most of these to my guy friends and they do favors for me(because they have certain skills that are useful to me, like getting together to beat some disrespectful punk or go shooting or play dota ) so after a few month to maybe a few years I noticed it is a burden not a balanced fruitful mutual friendship, so I broke it with most of my girl friends, and really my life is better now, less worries and I did not lose any benefits it seems.

I think it works, im living some examples, in both direction, im having a best friend that is a girl,
On the other side im in a relationship with a girl that is my friend as well.
