Authorities Seize Truckload of Arms Coming From Syria, Discover Explosives Depot

The Lebanese army seized a truckload of weapons coming from Syria intended for use in new battle fronts to ease pressure on Fatah al-Islam militants locked up in fierce fighting with army troops trying to crush the terrorists entrenched inside the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared.
The daily An Nahar on Wednesday said Lebanese authorities also discovered a depot containing more than 200 kilograms of explosives in house raids on Fatah al-Islam militants in the northern Akkar province.

It said the truck driver, who was not identified, was arrested late Tuesday at a Lebanese army checkpoint at Douriss near Baalbek in east Lebanon's Bekaa valley.

An Nahar quoted witnesses on the scene as saying that the driver tried to turn away from the checkpoint after he was taken by surprise, but that military vehicles intercepted the truck and arrested the motorist.

It said the arms cache, which was intercepted Tuesday evening, was planned for use in warfronts to be opened elsewhere in Palestinian refugee camps after attempts to start a warfront at Ain al-Hilweh in south Lebanon failed.

At the end, who is going to answer these questions above and why we don't call for investigation regarding the continuous foreign interferance whether it comes from syria, israel or usa?

روى شهود عيان لمراسل المؤسسة اللبنانية للارسال انه "عند الساعة العاشرة الا ربعاً من مساء امس، طارد جنود من الجيش اللبناني شاحنة من نوع سيكس ويل يحيطها جانب نصفي ومغطاة بشادر رمادي عند الطريق الرئيسية لبلدة دورس، وتمكنوا من ايقافها الى جانب الطريق ووضعوا امامها عوائق حديدية ثم قاموا بتفتيشها".

واضاف الشهود ان "سيارات مدنية كانت ترافق هذه الشاحنة واحداها من نوع جيب زجاجه اسود داكن، وحصل تلاسن بين ركاب هذا الجيب وعناصر الجيش اللبناني". وتجدر الاشارة الى ان مديرية التوجيه في الجيش اللبناني لم تصدر حتى الساعة اي بيان حول الموضوع.

Until an official statement from the Lebanese army or Hizbullah comment whether these weapons are for this party or not, i seriously doubt it.

yeh thts not far ... theres drugsNweapons smuggelers that works on the syrian border , its more than 400 kms , they can never control it 100% ...

It seems all the story is only on naharnet.
I, at least didn't hear anything yet on the media.
If it's true, then weird why the Army didn't make a statement.

As for LF-Students, i will go out the subject here a little bit.
You don't have weapons, ok. in 23 jan you went and started shooting at people to save the country from the opposition and you said that the Army isn't doing its job.

What do i think.. Well i think that u accept getting weapons from devil himself so u can rule as militia again.

But for this story i only read it on naharnet which is known for its propaganda so no need to think about their and ur speculations. No official statement from the army is issued till now and till then, i think that these weapons were smuggled into lebanon to nourish the chaos that already began.

ذكرت مصادر مطلعة ان شحنة الاسلحة التي ضبطها الجيش على حاجزه في منطقة دوروس في بعلبك عائدة للمقاومة وهي تحوي على ذخائر واسلحة خفيفة وثقيلة وقد اقتديت الشاحنة الى ثكنة الجيش في بعلبك وهذا ولم يصدر بعد اي تعليق على الموضوع من قيادة الجيش او قيادة المقاومة.
